Worth the Investment
Damian Lillard (POR, G) - $7,600
Lillard draws a favorable matchup with the Knicks, who are off to a horrendous start this season. The return of Jose Calderon has stabilized the point guard position for the Knicks offensively. However, Calderon is defensively challenged to put it nicely, as Kyrie Irving dropped 37 points on him earlier this week.
There is some risk involved with Lillard, as he was diagnosed with finger sprains following his last game. However, the Blazers have not played in three days and Lillard is expected to play through this minor ailment. Check to make sure he is in the starting lineup for Portland, and then insert him into yours.
Anthony Davis (NO, F) - $9,400
Davis is always an outstanding play in daily fantasy sports, but his price tag can be a bit prohibitive at times. If there are not enough value options on the board, it can be difficult to make a competitive lineup playing Davis. Today, however, is not the day you want to fade him, regardless of his price.
He draws a mouth-watering matchup against the dreadful Lakers, who notoriously get abused by opposing bigs on a nightly basis. Davis is arguably the leading MVP candidate thus far, averaging 25.2 points, 11.5 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 2.3 steals, and a whopping 3.1 blocks per game. The last time these two teams met, Davis went off for 25 points, 12 rebounds, one assist, one steal, and six blocks! Expect another dominating performance from Davis. Get him in your lineup.
Marc Gasol (MEM, C) - $7,400
Gasol has had a tremendous start to the season, averaging 19.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.6 blocks a game. He has the ability to score fantasy points in so many ways, which always makes him an attractive play at the center position. There just are not many centers with that kind of versatility.
The matchup against the Heat is terrific for Gasol. Miami is very weak at defending opposing centers, which should allow Gasol to have a big day. He torched the Spurs for 28 points, 12 rebounds, two assists, and four blocks on Friday. Look for him to keep the train rolling at home versus Miami.
Sleeper Pick
Khris Middleton (MIL, F) - $3,500
It is hard to recommend anyone on the Bucks for daily leagues other than Brandon Knight. Coach Jason Kidd is so fickle with his rotations, that it is difficult to predict who will get minutes on a given night. With that said, Middleton has quietly been pretty good over the past couple weeks.
Middleton has scored double digit points in five of his last six games. He has racked up at least six rebounds and three steals in each of his last two. The Bucks are currently dealing with a number of injuries in their frontcourt, so Middleton should continue to hover around 25 minutes at least in this game. When you add it all up, he could prove to be an excellent value against the Mavericks on Sunday.
