NBA DFS Picks for 3/1
Mo Williams (CHA, PG) - $5,900
The point guard position has the most value on Sunday, with a ton of scoring potential for a rather low price. Williams is a prime example of this. Earlier this season, he was able to put up extraordinary scoring and assist totals with Ricky Rubio’s injury. Now, he gets the chance to do it again with Charlotte, a team that needs him to do everything with Kemba Walker still sidelined and Al Jefferson showing some regression.
Since he’s been traded, Williams has averaged 22.8 points, 6.0 assists, and 1.5 steals. His incredible fantasy value and his matchup makes him a great bargain point guard on Sunday. The Orlando Magic has admittedly improved their fast break and inside defense. However, Williams is being relied on to do everything for this team.
Even if he does have poor efficiency, we can expect Williams to still net more than 20 points and dish out some assists. In his last four games, Williams has attempted an astonishing 75 shots. Expect at least some to fall down on Sunday.
Rudy Gay (SAC, SF) - $7,600
From a fantasy perspective, Gay has done everything he could to become the third best small forward behind Lebron James and Kevin Durant. That being said, Gay provides excellent value at small forward as James and Durant command a huge share of your initial salary.
Gay’s teammate Demarcus Cousins is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game against Portland, which means Gay will have to look to pick up a significant portion of Cousin’s 23.7 points and 12.2 rebounds. Gay is already averaging great numbers as of late. He has scored 21.3 points, 4.0 assists, and 6.1 rebounds in his last six games.
Gay has been the Kings’ most steady player, and looks to be a great pick at small forward especially with James and Durant dealing with injuries on Sunday.
Nikola Vucevic (ORL, C) - $8,600
It’s pretty much a toss-up between Vucevic and Deandre Jordan as the best center available on Sunday. The edge goes to Vucevic because Jordan may have a harder rebounding matchup against the height of the Bulls.
Vucevic continues to do what he has done all year. He has been the force inside for the Magic, averaging 19.9 points and 11.4 rebounds. In his last five games, Vucevic has averaged 24.8 points, 13.6 rebounds, and 1.0 steals. The only thing Vucevic can really add to his game is more consistent defensive numbers.
Vucevic provides scoring and rebounding production that other centers with lower investment prices do not have. The Orlando Magic have to rely on Vucevic, asking him to play over 34 minutes per game as well as over 16 shot attempts per game.
D.J. Augustin (OKC, PG)
From role player to fantasy stud and then back to role player, Augustin’s year has been a roller coaster ride. Augustin has proven to be an efficient bench player who knows his role, but could also step into the starting lineup and fill in adequately as a starter.
In his last ten games as a starter in Detroit, Augustin averaged 20.3 points and 8.2 assists. Augustin will have to replace Russell Westbrook, the fantasy stud who has stringed together 3 consecutive triple doubles. Expect Augustin to make his best attempt to fill in the stars’ shoes.
With Kevin Durant also sidelined, the Thunder will have to rely on Augustin and other bench players to play more minutes and provide production. Luckily, the Thunder will be facing the Lakers on Sunday, and Augustin shouldn’t have too much of a challenge getting things going in his matchup.
