Worth the Investment
Darren Collison (SAC, PG) - $7,300
Collison is a pretty safe play at a reasonable price. He is about as consistent as they come this season. For the last month, he is averaging 16.9 points, 2.3 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 1.8 steals, and 1.9 threes.
On Sunday, Collison will go up against Kyrie Irving and the Cavaliers. Irving is a great offensive player, but is not known for his defense. Cleveland as a whole, especially minus LeBron James, does not play defense, so Collison should be in for a nice game at home.
Kevin Love (CLE, PF) - $10,000
There are a lot of good plays at the forward positions, but today I like Love. His usage rate has skyrocketed without LeBron James. He is starting to look like the Kevin Love in Minnesota, putting up some monstrous numbers lately.
He has four consecutive double-doubles, and has been playing nearly 40 minutes a game since LeBron went down. His price tag is a little steep, but he should be able to pay it off. Sacramento is very weak at the power forward position. The party will be over when LeBron gets back, so let us enjoy it while it lasts.
DeAndre Jordan (LAC, C) - $8,100
DeAndre is a sometimes underappreciated commodity in fantasy hoops because he does not always score a lot of points. However, the man is such a beast when it comes to rebounds and blocked shots that scoring is really just a bonus. When he does score though, it leads to big time fantasy points.
Jordan has only had four games this entire season where he failed to record double-digit rebounds. Only Anthony Davis has blocked more shots than Jordan this season. He is going to destroy any center that Miami tries to throw at him. Expect another dominant performance for DeAndre in Lob City.
Top Sleeper
Chris Kaman (POR, C) - $4,800
Kaman has been forced into a starting role for Portland with injuries to Robin Lopez and Joel Freeland. He has been solid over his last three games, averaging 9.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.0 assists, and 2.3 blocks per game. Meyers Leonard is the only other healthy center on the roster right now for the Blazers, and is another sleeper candidate himself.
However, Kaman should be motivated in this one, as he is playing against his former team. The Lakers frontcourt has struggled all season long to stop opposing bigs, so Kaman could be in for a big day. I think a double-double and a block is his floor, which would easily pay off his price tag on Sunday.
