Top DFS Picks (Worth the Investment)
Anthony Davis (NO, PF) - $10,700
Do not be afraid to spend the cheese on Davis. In what should be a close matchup between Dallas and New Orleans, "The Unibrow" should see plenty of playing time while getting frontcourt help from the combination of Ryan Anderson and Omer Asik.
Under head coach Rick Carlisle, the Mavericks have played the type of consistent defense that would normally cause some concern when selecting an opposing player, but Davis is so well rounded that it is virtually impossible to ignore his upside in all the major stat categories. Once again, do not fret about utilizing the high budget number allocated to Davis. As Norman Chad would say, “Pay the man, Shirley.”
Nikola Vucevic (ORL, C) - $8,600
Orlando is going to have a tough time dropping buckets until Victor Oladipo returns, and even when he does get healthy, the Magic will still probably struggle. The offense will go heavily through Vucevic not only against Toronto, but also for a good chunk of the season. Averaging 47.5 fantasy points per game on FanDuel's format, it will not be long before Vucevic’s value climbs. Pick him while he is hot. The value attached is acceptable.
Rajon Rondo (BOS, PG) - $8,2000
Get ready for a good ole fashioned ABA shootout in Houston. Mainly, expect Houston to take advantage of their blow-out potential and Boston to score a lot of buckets in garbage time.
Rondo is already a top-five point guard, even against James Harden, and if all goes according to plan, expect Rondo to take advantage of Patrick Beverley and Jason Terry with the Rockets up big in the fourth. Of course this is all under the assumption that Rondo has not been traded yet. Too soon?
Best DFS Values (Sleepers)
Kostas Papanikolaou (HOU, SF) - $3,900
Subscribing to the high-scoring blow-out potential, go-big-or-go-home strategy in the Boston-Houston game, one can almost bank on the idea that there should be ample opportunity for Houston bench players to get theirs in the fourth quarter. At the very least, Boston was in the bottom third of the league last season in allowing fantasy points to small forwards and at some point Trevor Ariza will have to come off the floor. K-Papa should –nay, will!- make the most of his opportunities.
Garrett Temple (WAS, PG) - $3,600
Wizards coach Randy Wittman is guilty of sometimes being too consistent when it comes to players’ minutes and starting rotations. This bodes well for number crunchers, as we can expect Temple to start and play 30 minutes once again.
Wittman should have Temple starting at the two guard. If the Wizards are able to turn their matchup with the Bucks into a laugher, the 28-year-old journeyman should see the ball on nearly every possession in the fourth quarter. Expect Temple to hit the 20-point plateau on FanDuel. Coming from your second point guard, that is not too shabby.
