Worth the Investment
Eric Bledsoe (PHO, SG) - $8,800
It is difficult not to recommend Klay Thompson after his record setting 52 point explosion, but chasing points can be problematic. The Warriors are probably going to blow out the Celtics, so I will be playing Bledsoe versus the Clippers. Guys that offer across-the-board production will be a theme in my daily lineups.
Back on December 8th against the Clippers, Bledsoe had arguably his best game of the season. It was a massive triple-double: 27 points, 11 rebounds, 16 assists, two steals, two blocks and two treys. While he is unlikely to repeat that monster performance, Bledsoe should still put up great numbers. He will be asked to carry the Phoenix offense while Goran Dragic likely gets a heavy dose of Chris Paul.
Blake Griffin (LAC, PF) - $9,800
Griffin is the guy I will be paying up for on Sunday. He is on a tear right now, posting averages of 27.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.3 steals over his last four games. The Clippers will square off against the Phoenix Suns, who are giving up 105.0 points per game, ranking 28th in the NBA.
This game has the highest over/under of the day, and the spread is close. Therefore, this is a game to spend up for the elite players. Phoenix has trouble stopping opposing bigs, so Griffin should continue his strong play. He represents a more cost-effective option than Anthony Davis, and could be in line for a bigger day.
Al Horford (ATL, C) - $7,300
There are a few good plays at center on Sunday, but I believe Horford is the best bang for your buck. He has been on fire lately, averaging 17.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 0.7 steals and 1.3 blocks over his last seven games. Those are elite numbers, but his price tag has not caught up to his production yet.
The Hawks have won a franchise-record 15 straight games, and are looking to extend that streak against the lowly Timberwolves. Minnesota gives up 107.4 points per game, which is the worst in the NBA. Expect Horford to keep it going for the first place Atlanta Hawks.
Top Sleeper
D.J. Augustin (DET, PG) - $3,200
Brandon Jennings left the game on Saturday with an injury. Many are speculating that it could be a torn Achilles, which would end his season. Even if that is not the case, it is clear that he will not play on Sunday, which means big time minutes for Augustin.
Augustin’s Per-36 numbers this season look like this: 14.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, 7.1 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.2 treys a game. These type of numbers are very attainable for Augustin. If he comes anywhere close, he is going to blow his value out of the water. Get him in your lineups; he will likely be the value play of the day.
