Top DFS Picks (Worth the Investment)
Rajon Rondo (BOS, PG) - $8,600
Rondo has began the season on fire, averaging 9.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, 12.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game. He has grabbed at least seven rebounds in every game this season, and has posted back-to-back games with 15 assists. The Celtics' point guard is about as consistent as they come when healthy.
The matchup against Indiana is a favorable one, as the Pacers have really struggled to defend the point guard position. Rondo recorded his first triple-double of the season in his last game, and it would not be surprising if he makes it two in a row. He should be in all lineups right now.
Kevin Love (CLE, PF) - $9,000
For the record, I would recommend any of Cleveland’s Big Three tonight, but especially Love. He comes in averaging 17.8 points, 12.0 rebounds and 2.5 threes per game so far this season. The Cavaliers have gotten off to a slow start, and will be desperate for a win.
Love has played a whopping 38 minutes per game thus far and has a terrific matchup against Denver. The Nuggets are allergic to playing defense and are particularly inept at defending opposing big men. The Cavs' power forward is poised for a massive line tonight.
Marc Gasol (MEM, C) - $7,800
Gasol is another guy that has come out of the gate scorching hot with averages of 21.6 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.4 blocks per game. He is arguably the best passing center in the game and continues to log a healthy dose of minutes. His across-the-board production always makes him an appealing target in daily leagues.
Also appealing is his matchup against a depleted Oklahoma City team. The Thunder are struggling just to get five players on the court right now, so Gasol is in a great position to have a big night. His price tag is currently too low, so take advantage while you still can.
Best DFS Values (Sleepers)
Isaiah Thomas (PHX, PG) - $5,600
Despite coming off the bench for the Suns this season, Thomas has still managed to average an impressive 18.6 points, 4.0 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.8 threes per game. Coach Jeff Hornacek has shown a willingness to go small with three guards on the floor at the same time. This has allowed Thomas to see 25-30 minutes a night. That is all the diminutive sharpshooter needs to fill up the box score.
It is a bit of a risk in daily leagues to play guys that are not starting, but I would roll with Thomas tonight. He is reasonably priced and should be motivated to light it up against Sacramento, which traded him in the offseason. Thomas could provide excellent value tonight.
Brandon Davies (PHI, PF) - $3,000
A strong start to the season combined with a few lackluster performances by Henry Sims has already earned Davies more playing time. He knocked down 9-of-11 shots for 20 points in his last game, while playing a season-high 29 minutes. The injury to Nerlens Noel will now force Davies into the starting lineup.
His value is soaring right now. If that is not enough, Davies can be had for the absolute bare minimum salary, which will allow you to afford a couple of studs in your lineup. He does have a tough matchup against the defensive-minded Chicago Bulls, but his starting role along with a rock bottom price make him a must-play tonight.
