NASCAR Xfinity Series: DraftKings DFS Preview for Dover BetRivers 200 (4/27/24)

Justin Carter's DraftKings DFS lineup picks for the NASCAR Xfinity Series BetRivers 200 at Dover Motor Speedway. Read his daily fantasy NASCAR advice and Xfinity sleepers.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series is in Dover this weekend for the BetRivers 200. If you're playing DFS on DraftKings, you can find the race referred to as the "Xfinity Race at Dover." Last year, Ryan Truex was dominant here last season, leading 124 of the 200 laps on his way to the victory.

Last weekend at Talladega, rookie Jesse Love survived a fuel-milage race to earn his first Xfinity Series victory. Love now sits fourth in the overall point standings, behind leader Chandler Smith plus Cole Custer and RCR teammate Austin Hill.

Here at RotoBaller, we want to help you make informed decisions about your DFS lineups, which is why I'll be breaking down the slates for the Xfinity Series. Let's look at some NASCAR Xfinity DFS lineup picks for the NASCAR Xfinity Series BetRivers 200 on DraftKings. Be sure to also check out our NASCAR Premium Tools for Xfinity Series, including our DFS Lineup Optimizer and powerful Research Station. This slate locks on 4/27/24 at 1:45 p.m. EDT.

Dover Race Trends

Last year, this race was marked by a lot of good drivers struggling in qualifying. That meant that while the top 11 finishers belonged to Joe Gibbs Racing, JR Motorsports, RCR, Kaulig, and Stewart Haas, only four of those 11 drivers started in the top 11.

In 2022, it was a different story. Just one top-10 finisher started worse than 11th, but the result was mainly the same as the good cars all finished near the front.

Essentially, the cream rises to the crop here. Track position isn't necessarily as important as just having a really good car is, so some of the better cars that start a little deeper in the field are must-play options because of this.

Top Plays

Justin Allgaier ($11,500) starts third. This is a good spot for Allgaier to pick up his first win of the season, as he's been incredibly good at this track. Over the last 10 races at Dover, Allgaier has finished third or better nine times. He's led 50-plus laps in five of those races.

Chandler Smith ($11,300) starts seventh. He doesn't have a top 10 here in this series, but Smith has seven top 10s in the first nine races of the season including two wins. The points leader has led laps in all but two races.

Ryan Truex ($10,800) starts 12th. He was the winner here last year, earning his first Xfinity Series win. While I wouldn't bet on a repeat, I also wouldn't rule it out. He has two top 10s this season in four starts for JGR.

Sam Mayer ($9,800) starts 20th. I love Mayer as a place differential play this weekend. His 2024 season has been kind of rough minus his one victory, but two of his three top 10s have come in the last three races. His average finish at Dover is 7.0.

Top Mid-Tier Plays

Carson Kvapil ($8,300) starts 26th. This is his second career start in the Xfinity Series following a fourth-place run at Martinsville earlier this season. He finished third in the ARCA race here on Friday. He's also in a JRM car, which is usually a good sign here. All four JRM cars recorded top 10s here last year, a JRM car hasn't finished outside the top 10 at Dover since Noah Gragson's 15th-place finish here in 2021, and no JRM car has finished outside the top 20 at this track since Danica Patrick in 2012.

Shane Van Gisbergen ($7,200) starts 31st. It was a bit of a nightmare for Kaulig in qualifying. A.J. Allmendinger starts 10th, but the other three cars are all outside the top 30. On the bright side, that means there's a lot of place differential for the team's drivers. SVG has an average finish of just 16.8 this season and has never raced here, but at this price, we've got to sprinkle him in as a PD option.

Josh Williams ($6,900) starts 39th. Despite being in a Kaulig car, Williams has an average finish of just 22.7 this year. It's been a rough year, but you have to have some exposure because of the starting spot.

Corey Heim ($8,000) starts 22nd. Decent place differential upside since he has a best finish of fourth in Xfinity this year, though I'm worried about his lack of Dover experience. He had an engine failure in his only Xfinity start at this track and his only other start was an ARCA Menards East race in 2020.

Brandon Jones ($8,200) is a risky play because he could lose a lot of place differential points since he's starting on the pole, but if he takes advantage of the clean air then he could have a great race. In 2022, he was on the pole here and led the first 30 laps of the race and 55 overall before finishing seventh.

NASCAR Xfinity Series Deep Sleepers

Daniel Dye ($6,100) starts 36th, continuing what was an awful qualifying day for Kaulig. Dye's not a very good driver, but at $6,100, you can cross your fingers and hope he keeps the car clean and gets into the top 25. He should have a car capable of that.

Leland Honeyman ($4,800) starts 28th. He's looked really solid in 2024, posting an average finish of 20.7. He had top 20s at both Phoenix and Richmond, which might portend good things for Saturday.

Parker Retzlaff ($6,500) starts 17th. He got off to a really good start to the year with back-to-back top fives, but he has four DNFs since then. The good news? Of the five races he's finished, he's got four finished of 16th or better. As his salary continues to drop because of recent struggles, he becomes more and more appealing in fantasy.
