It's time for what might be the most chaotic race weekend of the NASCAR season, as all three series have playoff races at Talladega Superspeedway.
Anything can happen here. Surprise winners. Huge wrecks that take out drivers who are on the bubble for the next playoff round. Things can get wild. This is also a race where optimizing a lineup to spend the most possible salary doesn't work, as the unpredictability means winning lineups often leave over $1K on the table.
Here at RotoBaller, we want to help you make informed decisions about your DFS lineups, which is why I'll be breaking down the slates for the Truck Series. Let's look at some NASCAR Truck Series DFS lineup picks for the Chevrolet Silverado 250 on DraftKings. Brett Moffitt #23 ($10,600)
Starting 8th
Moffitt having a tiny bit of place differential upside starting in eighth is part of why I'm paying up for him. So is the fact he finished fourth here last year for GMS Racing, leading seven laps.
Moffitt's not known as a great superspeedway racer, with zero of his 11 wins in the series coming at Daytona or Talladega. But he's not bad at them. He finished fifth at Talladega in the underfunded 02 Xfinity car earlier this year, and if he keeps the car out of trouble, he'll be up near the front at the end of the race with a shot at the victory.
Johnny Sauter #13 ($9,900)
Starting 14th
Here's the thing with Sauter: 2020 has been an unmitigated disaster for this truck. He has just eight top 10s all season and is 15th in the standings. He's going to have his worst points finish as a full-time Truck Series driver this year.
But he's also won four superspeedway races in his career, was seventh at Daytona to open the season, and led 28 laps here last season. If there's a week for Sauter to breakthrough, this is the week, and his poor 2020 performance has depressed his salary enough to make him a really reasonable play.

Trevor Bayne #45 ($8,200)
Starting 25th
So far, Bayne's time in the 45 truck has not gone smoothly. In three races, he's got two finishes of 27th or worse and then a disqualification after finishing fifth at Bristol.
But this is also a guy who had seven of his 16 top 10s in the Cup Series at either Daytona or Talladega. Ignore the whole "he won a Daytona 500" aspect that's going to get many excited about him. He's a solid racer at these tracks and starts 25th. Anything can happen in terms of wrecks and starting midpack makes an early accident more likely, but Bayne should be in the running for a top 10 this week.
Kaz Grala #44 ($8,100)
Starting 28th
Grala makes his first Truck Series start since 2017 in place of Natalie Decker, who'll miss a second consecutive race for medical reasons.
In 2017, Grala ran a full season for GMS Racing, opening it with a win from the pole at Daytona in which he led 14 of the 100 laps. He did crash out at Talladega later in the year. He also had two Daytona top fives in Xfinity in 2018. He hasn't made a superspeedway start in the last two years so maybe he's a little rusty, but Grala has been running really well any time he gets an opportunity, and I don't expect Saturday to be any different.
Joe Nemechek #8 ($6,300)
Starting 35th
Here's where we get into the major place differential section. Nemechek starts 35th. He has the potential to have a huge day just by keeping the truck clean.
The concern is that NEMCO has been a start-and-park team at times. Last year, Joe Nemechek started 13 races in his own truck, with an average 25.9 average finish and 11 DNFs.
The Daytona DNF was a crash, though, as Nemechek tried to run the whole race, and this year the team's been more selective about which races they've run, not going with the start-and-park approach. Nemechek has four Xfinity Series wins on superspeedways, though the last one was in 2002. If he runs the entire race, he can get a solid top 20 with upside for more, which is worth the risk because of the place differential points he'll end up with.
Heck, if there's an early crash and Nemechek avoids it, he might not even need to finish the race to be a solid play.
Jordan Anderson #3 ($6,200)
Starting 26th
Anderson has three career top 10s in the Truck Series, and all three were on superspeedways, including a second at Daytona earlier in the year.
The argument here is pretty easy to make: a good superspeedway driver starting 26th who only costs you $6,200. Every superspeedway race has unlikely drivers finish well, and Anderson has been that unlikely driver multiple times. One of my favorite plays on this entire slate.
