The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series heads to Nashville on Friday night as part of a tripleheader weekend for NASCAR's top three series. This race is part of the Triple Truck Challenge, which means no Cup Series or Xfinity Series regulars can run this race.
That means we'll get a new winner at Nashville, as Ryan Preece won the 2021 and 2022 races here. Last season, it was Preece and Zane Smith dueling for the win, as Preece led 74 laps while Smith led 70 on his way to a second-place finish.

Post-Qualifying Updates
Check back here before the race, where I should have some post-qualifying updates for Friday night's race.
Recent Nashville Data
Like I said in the intro, Ryan Preece won here last year. Preece is in Cup on a full-time basis now, so he won't be defending that title.
This is the third Nashville race since the Truck Series returned to this track after a decade-long absence. Last year, we saw seven lead changes, with four drivers taking a turn at the front of the field. The year before, we had eight lead changes between six drivers. There's not really going to be a lot of back-and-forth at the front of the field, so it'll be important to grab a driver or two who you're confident can lead laps.
Another thing to note about last year's race is that the top three started and finished in that order. That wasn't the case in 2021, but part of that is that polesitter Derek Kraus—who led the first 48 laps—crashed out of the race. Grabbing a front-row driver seems like a winning strategy.

Potential Top Plays
Corey Heim ($11,500): Heim climbs back into this truck after missing the last race due to illness. He qualified fourth here last year and had an average running position of ninth, but a late crash ended his day. Heim has nine top 10s in 11 starts this year including one victory and still holds the points lead despite missing one race. He's a threat everywhere.
Zane Smith ($11,300): Smith should be viewed as the favorite on Friday. He's started two races here in the Truck Series, posting an average finish of third. Last year, he led 70 laps and finished second. He's been pretty "checkers or wreckers" this year, with just five top 10s, all of which are top fives, and two wins, so this definitely could go more wrong than Heim. Higher ceiling and a lower floor than his rival.
Ty Majeski ($11,000): Like Smith, Majeski is 2-for-2 in top 10s here. In 2021, he started 13th and finished eighth, and then last year he started 12th and finished fourth, leading four laps in the process. He's still searching for his first win of the season, but it could be coming as soon as Friday night.
Christian Eckes/Grant Enfinger/Carson Hocecar if they start on the front row: Like I said above, a good starting spot helps here, so I'd be willing to take a swing on these three guys if they start first or second. If they don't, I won't be as interested.
Potential Value Plays
Chase Purdy ($8,700): Purdy has a top 10 in half of his starts this season and a career-high 16.1 average finish. He's been top 15 in both of his starts at Nashville. He's eighth in Jim Sannes' pre-practice win simulations.
Nick Sanchez ($7,800): Sanchez has looked really good at times this season, posting five top 10s, including back-to-back top 10s over the last two races. In fact, take out the 30th at North Wilkesboro and that's five of the last six races that he's finished 11th or better.
Jack Wood ($7,000): Wood is set to make his sixth start of the season tonight. He's already set a career-high with two top 10s, and his average finish of 18.6 is a good bit better than his 25.2 average finish last year. He's shown speed here at Nashville in the past, qualifying top 10 in both of his starts. He finished 11th in his first race here, but crashed last year and finished 35th.
Layne Riggs ($6,500): Riggs is set for his second start of the season and his first in the 02 truck. This truck hasn't run great, but there have been three top-20 finishes from Kris Wright in it, and I think Riggs is a lot more talented. Last season, he got a top 10 in his first career Truck Series start at IRP.
Toni Breidinger ($5,300): I'm not super confident about Breidinger, but she's run solid laps in her first two Truck Series starts, including a 15th in her series debut. If she qualifies far enough back, there will be upside.
