NASCAR Truck Series: DraftKings DFS Lineup Picks for Milwaukee Clean Harbors 175 (8/27/23)

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series heads to Milwaukee this weekend, the first time the series has been at this track since 2009, when Ron Hornaday was the winner. The only drivers in Sunday's field who raced in that one are Dexter Bean and Matt Crafton.

This is the second race of the Truck Series Round of 10. Last race, Ty Majeski clinched a spot in the next round, leaving seven positions up for grabs. Who'll make the playoff field and who'll be left out?

Here at RotoBaller, we want to help you make informed decisions about your DFS lineups, which is why I'll be breaking down the slates for the Craftsman Truck Series. Let's look at some NASCAR Truck Series DFS lineup picks for the Clean Harbors 175 on DraftKings. Be sure to also check out our NASCAR Premium Tools for Truck Series including our DFS Lineup Optimizer and powerful Research Station. This slate locks on 8/27/2023 at 4:09 p.m. ET.

Zane Smith - $10,600

Starting 18th

Poor qualifying run for Zane Smith, who starts just 18th. But he should find his way up into the top 10 rather quickly based on his recent performances.

It seems like forever ago that Smith had a string of four finishes in a row of 20th or worse. Since then, he has four top fives in the last five races, which includes a pair of runner-up results.

Smith's rounding into form at a great time. While his future with Front Row Motorsports is in question after they weren't able to get him into one of their Cup cars for next season, Smith's still got a bright present for the team as he tries to deliver a Truck Series championship.

Carson Hocevar - $10,500

Starting Third

Hocevar is my pick to win today's race. He starts on the second row and has won two of the last five races in the Truck Series, with top 12 finishes in nine consecutive races. After earning a reputation for being an aggressive driver who put himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, Hocevar has seemingly figured out how to put together full races without crashing anyone.

That makes him a great pick to dominate this one. Two races ago at Richmond, Hocevar started 17th but moved forward quickly, ultimately leading 64 laps on his way to the victory, with 19 fastest laps. With less distance to go on Sunday, Hocevar could be out front pretty fast and stockpile the laps led.

Matt DiBenedetto - $8,500

Starting 23rd

DiBenedetto quietly made it into the playoffs this season. He hasn't won a race and has just one top five, but he's recorded 10 top 10s so far, running consistent races and posting an average finish of 14.1.

He'll start just 23rd on Sunday, but he's shown an ability to perform well despite a poor starting spot. At IRP, he started one spot deeper in 24th, but ran a clean race and finished 10th. At Charlotte, he started 20th and finished eighth. Bristol Dirt, 24th to 10th. The point here is that DiBenedetto has top 10 upside, which means that if he runs his best race, he can get you 13-17 points in place differential.

Matt Mills - $7,900

Starting 26th

I still think it's weird to see Matt Mills in a KBM truck. This is someone who is running in Xfinity for Emerling-Gase and other Truck Series races for Randy Young. Seeing him get a few starts in top equipment is not at all what I would have expected. But KBM's had some weird driver lineups this year as the team works to fill the seat without the backing of Toyota anymore.

Mills made his KBM debut at Richmond, where he started and finished fifth. In his six other starts this season, his best finish is 19th. Clearly, the 51 truck makes a huge difference, as it gives Mills a chance to actually show what he can do in a race car. And with Mills back in the 51 this weekend, he'll have massive place differential upside after qualifying just 26th.

William Sawalich - $7,300

Starting 12th

Sawalich is set to make his fifth Truck Series start for Tricon Garage. So far, he has three top 10s in his first four races, including a sixth-place result in his most recent race at IRP.

Starting in 12th place doesn't give him a lot of place differential upside, but getting a driver who has finished in the top 10 in 75% of his career starts at just $7,300 is a steal. He might not post the largest DFS score in the field on Sunday, but if he runs like he has so far in his career, you'll be happy with the result. He'll also get some added track experience in the ARCA race.

Tyler Hill - $4,800

Starting 32nd

Hill's a great punt play for this race. He hasn't really had any good runs this season in the Truck Series, but he also isn't having bad runs. His finishes are 22nd, 24th, 21st, and 26th.

But when factoring in his starting spots, the upside becomes clear. Hill has started 30th, 29th, 36th, and 30th so far this year. He's finished every race with positive place differential, and his 32nd-place starting spot on Sunday puts him in line to do that again in Milwaukee.
