NASCAR legend Jimmie Johnson and his longtime wife, Chandra, are dealing with a heartbreaking family tragedy. Multiple news outlets are reporting that Jimmie Johnson's mother-in-law, father-in-law, and his 11-year-old nephew were killed earlier this week in a shooting in Oklahoma.
The seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion retired from full-time racing in 2020 but still participates in Cup Series events on a part-time basis. Johnson was scheduled to enter the inaugural Chicago street course race, the Grant Park 220, on Sunday, July 2nd.
Johnson co-owns Legacy Motor Club, which announced that the team's No. 84 Chevrolet had withdrawn from the Chicago event in light of the recent tragedy.

What Happened to Johnson's Family Members?
Fox 23 News of Tulsa, Oklahoma, reported that Muskogee police are investigating the deaths of Terry, Jack, and Dalton Janway as a possible murder-suicide.
According to Fox 23, Jack and Terry Janway, the parents of Johnson’s wife of 19 years, Chandra Janway Johnson, as well as their 11-year-old nephew, Dalton Janway, were found dead in a residence on Monday night. Terry Janway, Jimmie Johnson's mother-in-law, is believed to be the prime suspect in the killings.
Johnson's Legacy Motor Club posted the following statement to social media Tuesday afternoon:
LEGACY MOTOR CLUB has elected to withdraw the No. 84 Carvana Chevrolet from this weekend’s NASCAR Cup Series event in Chicago.
The Johnson family has asked for privacy at this time and no further statements will be made
