BALLER MOVE: Add In 12-Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 17% of leagues
ANALYSIS: One player's loss is another player's gain.
Since his 48-point explosion, Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray has struggled with his shot, shooting under 40 percent from the floor and just 24 percent from three. But those struggles have helped open doors for second-year point guard Monte Morris, who has carved out a role on this Denver team.
Over that same six game span, Morris is scoring 11.3 points per game on 55.6 percent shooting and a 37.5 percent mark from three. He's grabbing three rebounds per game and dishing 4.7 assists. Morris has played so well that the Nuggets gave him a start against the Hawks, and while that was likely done more to send a message to Murray and not as an actual sign that Morris is heading to the team's starting five, the fact that they felt confident giving him those minutes speaks volumes about the team's feelings on the former Iowa State Cyclone.
Morris is serving as the sixth man on a Nuggets team that's been banged up and shallow this season, and that role looks to remain fairly consistent moving forward. Isaiah Thomas and Will Barton are out until December. Michael Porter Jr. should return soon, but the rookie still has a lot of injury concerns. Morris is a steadying presence on this bench and with the way he's looked, he should still be seeing heavy minutes once the Nuggets get healthy. Morris is a great addition right now for another looking for points, threes, field goal percentage, and rebounding from the point guard spot.
