MLS DFS Goalies
Andre Blake - DK $5.1K
Opponent - Toronto FC
Blake has arguably the best matchup on the Early Slate tonight, facing Toronto FC. The club did just announce that now ex-Canada National Men’s Team manager John Herdman will take over as the new Toronto FC manager, however, that won’t be until October. In the meantime, it is expected that they will remain a jumbled mess. Toronto FC does sit in the middle of the pack in Goals For Per 90 – 1.6 –, however, they are the second-worst in Shots For Per 90 – 12.15 –. That is the one risk that Blake poses – the inability to maintain value –. Otherwise, he is one of the best options on the slate and he is expected to garner north of 20 percent ownership. In Blake’s last five performances, he has 11 saves, 4 goals conceded and 2 clean sheets.
Others To Consider (Cash/GPP): Edwards Jr. (DK $5.3K), Sirois (DK $3.9K)
MLS DFS Forwards
Julian Carranza - DK $7.8K
Opponent - Toronto FC
There are a few major headscratchers with pricing tonight and Carranza is the highlight of the group. The striker is the main producer – outside of teammate Daniel Gazdag – for Philadelphia and Toronto is not shy about conceding goals. They sit in the bottom ten in Goals Against Per 90 – 1.17 – and are the second-worst in Shots Against Per 90 – 11.7 – and the third-worst in Created Chances Against Per 90 – 8.56 –. Furthermore, in Toronto’s last five matches in all competitions, they are 0-5-0 and have been outscored 12-2 and more specifically, in their last five home fixtures in all competitions they are 0-4-1 and have been outscored 7-3 and shutout three times. Tonight is the Philadelphia Union stack night in all facets. In Carranza’s last five domestic matches, he has 1 goal, 1 assist, 8 shots, 6 created chances, 2 crosses, 8 tackles and 5 interceptions.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Vazquez (DK $6.6K), McGuire (DK $5.9K)
MLS DFS Midfielders
Mauricio Pereyra - DK $6.4K
Opponent - Charlotte FC
With many people looking at Lionel Messi and Daniel Gazdag of Inter Miami and Philadelphia Union respectively, few will consider Pereyra in an away match against Charlotte. In his last five domestic appearances, he has 2 assists, 4 shots, 13 created chances, 19 crosses, 14 corners and 6 tackles. Charlotte FC is currently the second-worst club in Goals Against Per 90 – 1.27 – and the middle of the pack in Created Chances Against Per 90 – 7.45 –. The matchup is not the most ideal, however, Pereyra offers the best value in this range thanks to his set-pieces and depending on how you build lineups tonight, value may become a requirement.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Messi (DK $12K), Gazdag (DK $8.8K)
MLS DFS Defenders
Dave Romney - DK $3.1K
Opponent - New York Red Bulls
To cap off roster building for tonight, there is one more piece of value needed to ensure there is enough salary for the big guns and that is Dave Romney or whoever potentially slots in for DeJuan Jones of New England Revolution. Both Brandon Bye and DeJuan Jones could be missing this fixture after Jones was a late add to the injury list ahead of the match. In Romney’s last five domestic appearances, he has 2 shots, 4 tackles, 5 interceptions, 20 clearances and 6 blocks. He is more of a defensive defender compared to DeJuan Jones – a two-way wingback –. Due to Romney’s style of play, he may not rack up a ton of peripherals tonight going against one of the worst offenses in the MLS, however, he does not need much to hit value.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Tolkin (DK $7.1K), Wagner (DK $6.9K)
Corner Takers
- Atlanta United: Almada/Lennon
- FC Cincinnati: Acosta/Barreal
- Charlotte FC: Vargas/Westwood
- Orlando City SC: Pereyra

- Nashville SC: Mukhtar
- New England Revolutions: Gil
- New York Red Bulls: Tolkin
- New York City FC: Pellegrini/Moralez
- CF Montreal: Choiniere/Duke
- Toronto FC: Bernardeschi/Insigne
