MLS DFS Goalies
Brad Guzan - DK $4.4K
Opponent - New York Red Bulls
We once again have a tough time with keepers after a mediocre outing during midweek play. Guzan was a part of that mix as he conceded two goals and made one save in a 2-2 draw at home against New York City FC. This weekend he gets the other half of the New York duo with the Red Bulls who also happen to be mediocre offensively.
The hosts are the second-worst club in Big Chances Scored Per 90 – 0.44, Big Chances Converted Per 90 – 36.36 Percent, In-the-Box Goals Per 90 –0.67, and they are the worst in Goals For Per 90 – 0.72. NYFC was a questionable opponent due to the club lacking a true striker. NYRB does have a few strikers, but they all lack a finishing ability, setting up Guzan for a potential bounce-back performance this weekend.
Others To Consider (Cash/GPP): Bendik (DK $5.8K), Petrovic (DK $5.6K)
MLS DFS Forwards
Julian Carranza - DK $8.9K
Opponent - Inter Miami CF
Carranza is a different kind of player altogether. He carries the bulk of the offensive production for Philadelphia and in his last five matches, he has 4 goals, 21 shots, 3 created chances, 4 crosses, 10 tackles, and 2 interceptions. Inter Miami is in the bottom ten in Shots Against Per 90 – 14.18, In-the-Box Shots Against Per 90 – 9.0, In-the-Box Goals Against Per 90 – 1.29. They are the worst in Created Chances Against Per 90 – 11.59 and Big Chances Created Against Per 90 – 2.29. Due to this premium matchup, Carranza and company are expected to see north of 20 percent ownership in all contests.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Wood (DK $6.5K), Copetti (DK $4.7K)
MLS DFS Midfielders
Carles Gil - DK $10.8K
Opponent - Toronto FC
Gil may be the biggest ‘lock’ of the slate. The attacking midfielder is the catalyst to all good in New England and he has duo-eligibility at both forward and midfield, making him very valuable when roster building. Through his last five appearances, he has 4 goals, 2 assists, 11 shots, 19 created chances, 31 crosses, 15 corners, and 4 tackles. Toronto is not the worst club in the league when analyzing their metrics, however, their goaltending has been less than desirable due to their backline leaving them out to dry. This is a perfect spot for Gil to continue his hot run of form.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Almada (DK $8.8K), Gazdag (DK $8.4K)
MLS DFS Defenders
Ben Sweat - DK $2.9K
Opponent - Toronto FC
To make way for all of the expensive names this weekend, it is a must to ‘punt’ at some point and Ben Sweat is the ideal option. The defender is expected to slot in at left-back and there is some concern since he has not played a minute since the middle of April. However, Toronto is struggling offensively, sitting in the bottom five in almost every category besides Created Chances For Per 90 – 8.11. This is arguably the best match for Sweat to return to the pitch. Also, keep in mind that Santiago Arias of FC Cincinnati scored against Toronto last week and Sweat will play a similar role for New England this weekend.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Wagner (DK $8K), Lennon (DK $5.6K)
Corner Takers
- Charlotte: Vargas/Westwood
- CF Montreal: Choiniere/Duke
- Columbus Crew: Zelaryan/Matan
- Nashville SC: Mukhtar/Lovitz
- D.C United: Klich
- FC Cincinnati: Barreal/Acosta
- New England Revolution: Gil
- Toronto FC: Bernardeschi
- New York Red Bulls: Casseres Jr.
- Atlanta United: Almada/Lennon
- Philadelphia Union: Wagner
- Inter Miami CF: Taylor
