MLS DFS Goalies
Pedro Gallese - DK $5.3K
Opponent - Colorado Rapids
Orlando may have one of the best defensive matchups this weekend in the MLS and surely on the main slate. The visitors are the second-worst in Goals For Per 90 – 0.82 –, the fourth-worst in Big Chances Converted Per 90 – 40.74 Percent – and the third-worst in In-the-Box Goals Per 90 – 0.71 –. Furthermore, Orlando is in the top 10 in both Goals Against Per 90 – 1.07 – and In-the-Box Goals Against Per 90 – 0.87 –. Gallese went through a stretch of poor performances, however, in his last four appearances, he has conceded 3 goals, made 10 saves and kept one clean sheet.
Others To Consider (Cash/GPP): Petrovic (DK $5.7K), Sirois (DK $5.1K)
MLS DFS Forwards
Giorgis Giakoumakis - DK $7.9K
Opponent - D.C. United
Many will be faced with the decision between taking Giakoumakis or Bobby Wood of the New England Revolution. We will side with Gia due to his more potent goal-scoring and the overall threat he provides game in and game out. In his last five fixtures – 2 starts –, he has 4 goals, 15 shots, 4 created chances, 2 crosses, 3 tackles and 4 clearances. D.C. United will not be a walk in the park, even at home in Atlanta, however, they have struggled against lesser clubs – Minnesota and Toronto – as of late.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Ruidiaz (DK $8.4K), Wood (DK $7.8K)
MLS DFS Midfielders
Carles Gil - DK $10.9K
Opponent - Inter Miami
Another big decision looming in ‘CASH’ contests is whether to take Gil or Thiago Almada of Atlanta United and with Giakoumakis already highlighted, some may be persuaded to take Thiago over Gil. Either works and if both are possible, it would be well worth it, however, we will examine Gil more closely. Throughout his last five appearances – 4 starts –, he has 3 goals, 7 shots, 15 created chances, 31 crosses, 18 corners, 3 tackles and 1 interception. Furthermore, Inter Miami is the definition of bad. They are the third-worst club in Shots Against Per 90 – 14.44 –, the second-worst in In-the-Box Shots Against Per 90 – 9.06 – and are the worst in Created Chances Against Per 90 – 11.75 – and Big Chances Created Against Per 90 – 2.38 –. Gil has the best matchup at midfield on the slate by a mile and his ownership should prove it with an expected ownership north of 50 percent. Keep in mind that he also holds duo-eligibility at both forward and midfielder making him even more valuable.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Almada (DK $9.7K), Pereyra (DK $5.5K)
MLS DFS Defenders
Lucas MacNaughton - DK $2.9K
Opponent - Nashville Predators
It is not every day that you see a center-back as the highlighted defender on the slate and especially MacNaughton of all defenders to choose from. The ex-Toronto defender found himself a move away from the Great White North after multiple failed attempts at defense, however, he was not entirely at fault. Throughout MacNaughton’s last five matches, he has 1 goal, 4 shots, 5 tackles, 12 interceptions, 9 clearances and 3 blocks. Teammate Walker Zimmerman is with the United States Men’s National Team as they prepare for the Gold Cup, leaving MacNaughton and Jack Maher as the two center-backs to handle Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi. With multiple spots requiring high-flyer salaries tonight, ‘punting’ at least once at defense will be required and MacNaughton has a path to value, making it well worth it.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Lennon (DK $6.6K), Herrera (DK $4.7K)
Corner Takers
- Atlanta United: Almada/Lennon
- D.C. United: Klich
- Charlotte FC: Swiderski/Westwood
- Seattle Sounders: Lodeiro/Rusnak
- CF Montreal: Choiniere/Lassiter/Duke
- Minnesota United: Sang-Bin/Fragapane/Reynoso
- New England Revolution: Gil
- Inter Miami: Mota/Taylor
- Orlando SC: Pereyra
- Colorado Rapids: Ronan/Acosta
Thanks for reading The Kick-Off. Good luck in all of your contests today!
