MLB Underdog Predictions - Today's DFS Prop Picks for Tuesday, September 19, 2023

Luis Castillo - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, MLB Injury News

Happy Tuesday, RotoBallers! Welcome to our Underdog Fantasy MLB DFS prop picks for Tuesday, September 19, 2023. Welcome back to our DFS series covering Underdog Fantasy contests! We will continue to focus on the MLB DFS props offered on Underdog called Higher/Lower (Over/Under).

Higher/Lower is traditional over/under DFS prop picks – whether you think pitchers and hitters will score Over or Under the set lines, and choosing your amount. You can parlay multiple picks together to vastly increase the juice (e.g., three picks = 6x your bet). Underdog Fantasy offers some of the industry's best and easiest-to-win MLB DFS games. At Underdog Fantasy, you're not playing against other people – you're just playing against the projections.

Announcement: We have two awesome new Props Optimizers for the MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, and NCAA! The PrizePicks Optimizer and Prop Bets Optimizer are both available in our new Props Premium Package, which includes exclusive access to RotoBaller's VIP Discord chat rooms for props and betting.

Paul Blackburn, 15.5 Pitching Outs (LOWER)

Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Paul Blackburn has a Tuesday matchup at home against the Seattle Mariners. In the past month, the Mariners have the sixth-highest OPS, sixth-highest wRC+, and seventh-highest wOBA against right-handed pitching. Blackburn has also struggled lately, pitching less than six innings in his last three starts. This matchup with the Seattle Mariners should extend that streak to four starts.

Joc Pederson, 6.0 Fantasy Points (LOWER)

San Francisco Giants outfielder Joc Pederson faces Arizona Diamondbacks starter Zac Gallen on Tuesday. Pederson has been a platoon hitter for most of his career, hitting better against righties than lefties, but Gallen is the exception. In his career against Gallen, Pederson has gone 2-for-21 (.095) with two walks and six strikeouts. Gallen is among the best pitchers in the league, and Pederson should continue to struggle in this matchup.

Myles Straw, 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBI (LOWER)

Cleveland Guardians outfielder Myles Straw has a Tuesday appointment with the Kansas City Royals. Straw has been the worst hitter in the past month, with at least 70 plate appearances. Straw had a .361 OPS and .167 wOBA over the last 30 days, ranking dead last among qualified hitters. I expect Straw's hitting woes to continue on Tuesday.

Underdog Fantasy Pick'em (LOWER)

Luis Castillo, 7.5 Strikeouts (HIGHER)

The Seattle Mariners starting pitcher faces the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday. In the past month, the Athletics have a 26.8% strikeout rate against right-handed pitching. The 30-year-old has a 27.2% strikeout rate, which ranks ninth among qualified pitchers this season. Castillo has eclipsed seven strikeouts in his last two starts. The Mariners starter could rack up the strikeouts in Tuesday's matchup.

Kyle Gibson, 2.5 Earned Runs Allowed (HIGHER)

Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Kyle Gibson faces the Houston Astros on Tuesday at Minute Maid Park. The Astros have been one of the best teams in baseball against right-handed pitching over the past month. The Astros rank first in batting average, OBP, wOBA, wRC+, and strikeout rate against right-handed pitching in the last 30 days. Gibson has given up three or more earned runs in six of his previous seven starts. The Astros should be able to score against the Orioles starter.

Gleyber Torres, 0.5 Singles (HIGHER)

New York Yankees second baseman Gleyber Torres faces Toronto Blue Jays starter Yusei Kikuchi at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday. In his career against Kikuchi, Torres has gone 8-for-20 (.400) with six singles, a double, and a home run. The Yankees second baseman is also batting .270 and has racked up 74 hits at home this season. Of those 74 hits, Torres has hit 47 singles at Yankee Stadium. Torres should rack up at least one single on Tuesday.
