Ken Waldichuk, 17.0 Pitching Outs (LOWER)
Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Ken Waldichuk has a 6.05 ERA and 1.67 WHIP in 110 innings this season. Waldichuk faces the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday. In August, the Mariners have the third-highest OPS against left-handed pitching at .973. The Mariners also have a batting average of .332 against left-handed pitching this month. 17.0 pitching outs equates to just under six innings, and I think Waldichuk is knocked out of this game before he can reach the six-inning mark.
Tommy Pham, 0.5 Singles (LOWER)
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Tommy Pham was a breakout pick for me earlier in the season, and he is in the midst of a comeback season. Still, he may struggle on Tuesday. Pham faces Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw. Pham and Kershaw have been in the league for many years now, and the two have met a decent amount in that time. Against Kershaw, Pham is 1-for-17 (.059) with a single, a walk, and six strikeouts. Pham has his work cut out for him.
Martin Maldonado, 0.5 Total Bases (LOWER)
Houston Astros catcher Martin Maldonado is one of baseball's best pitch callers and one of three catchers to catch three no-hitters. Still, his contributions on the offensive side of the baseball leave much to be desired. Maldonado is batting .183 this season and has an xBA of .180. In August, Maldonado is slashing .158/.220/.158 against right-handed pitching with a 38.6% strikeout rate. The Astros catcher should continue to struggle with the bat in his hands.
Alex Cobb, 5.0 Strikeouts (HIGHER)
San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Alex Cobb faces the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday. In August, the Reds have a 29% strikeout rate against right-handed pitching. The Reds are also batting .230 with a .710 OPS against righties this month. Cobb's strikeout numbers are a bit down this season, and he has not reached five strikeouts in his last five starts, but he is due. The Reds' strikeout rate against righties in August is the highest in the league, and Cobb will benefit from their free swinging.
Peter Lambert, 3.5 Earned Runs Allowed (HIGHER)
Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Peter Lambert has a 4.92 ERA and 1.33 WHIP in 71 1/3 innings this season. Lambert's overall ERA is helped out by his 3.60 ERA in away games. Unfortunately for him, Tuesday's contest takes place at Coors Field against the Atlanta Braves. Pitching at Coors Field this season, Lambert has a 6.61 ERA and 1.53 WHIP in 31 1/3 innings. In August, the Braves have the second-highest OPS against right-handed pitching. This is a nightmare scenario for Lambert.
Marcus Semien, 0.5 Singles (HIGHER)
Texas Rangers second baseman Marcus Semien continues to be one of the best middle infielders in baseball. Semien faces New York Mets starting pitcher Jose Quintana on Tuesday at Citi Field. Against Quintana, Semien is 6-for-13 (.462) with three singles, three doubles, and an RBI. In 46 plate appearances at Citi Field, Semien is batting .341 with a .983 OPS. The slugger is also on a three-game hit streak, with a hit in seven of his last eight contests. All signs point to Semien continuing his hot streak.
