Welcome to fun-filled Saturday of baseball (I know you guys will be sitting at home watching, right?). While grabbing Jake Arrieta to watch him slaughter the Braves sounds great, this article is focused more for the Matt Shoemaker's of the world.
In this article, I’ll be providing you with the top starting pitcher streamers for daily fantasy baseball (DFS) and for seasonal leagues for 6/11/16. These streamers will range from high-priced / high-ownership options to low-priced / low-ownership options, and will be sleepers and value picks for your cash games and GPPs on DraftKings and FanDuel, and also for seasonal leagues with daily lineups.
There'll be three main sections of this article: our Pitcher Matchups Tool’s top plays, my value plays, and pitchers to fade. I highly recommend you check out the Daily Pitcher Matchups Ratings tool - it's an extremely useful tool for daily fantasy or seasonal streaming for finding the diamonds in the rough. Anyways, let's get rowdy.
Daily Pitcher Matchup Ratings Tool Top Plays
Trevor Bauer (SP, CLE) vs Angels
Must Stream
Bauer has been fantastic in June (2.45 ERA, 16/0 K/BB ratio) and gets an Angels team slugging .400 versus RHP, 18th in baseball. He should be owned in seasonal formats even after this outing.
Logan Verrett (SP, NYM)
Solid Stream
Verrett gets the spot start today, an assignment he's done well in this year, posting 12 shutout innings over two starts. The Brewers have a below-average offense versus RHP and I expect the Mets to pounce on Wily Peralta (6.97 ERA), allowing Verrett to pick up a precious win.
Max’s Value Plays of the Day
Matt Shoemaker (SP, LAA) at Indians
Must Sream
Shoemaker continues to impress and there is no reason his ownership should be 40%. He has a 39/0 K/BB ratio in his last four starts (2.37 ERA) and needs to be owned. This is a tough assignment at Cleveland but I'll ride him till he cools.
Eduardo Rodriguez (SP, BOS) at Twins
Solid Stream
E-Rod had a good debut followed by a rough encore (5.2 IP, 5 ER, 4 HR). He looks healthy and I expect him to perform more like the former than the latter. The Twins have a .707 OPS versus LHP, 20th in baseball.
Starting Pitchers to Fade in Daily Fantasy Baseball
Carlos Martinez (SP, STL) at Pirates
C-Mart has pitched better of late (15/3 K/BB ratio in past two starts) but the Pirates are a tough assignment on the road. The Pirates .776 OPS versus RHP is seventh in baseball.
Scott Kazmir (SP, LAD) at Giants
Kazmir has allowed eight runs in two starts to the Giants this year and had to leave his last start due to a quad injury. The Giants have hit well versus lefties as a whole, posting a .267 average (7th overall).
