After an unusually light Thursday, we get a full slate on Friday night! There looks to be some serious weather going on around the country so I would be especially careful before game time - make sure to check your MLB daily lineups before they lock. I forsee a potential BOOM festival in Houston, and a possible shutout brewing in 'Zona, so brace yourself for a fun Friday night of daily league fantasy baseball!
MLB Daily League Lineup Picks for August 1, 2013:
Patrick Corbin - SP
The Mets have been struggling to score runs all year. Now losing David Wright to the DL, things could get real ugly real fast for this club. Losing Wright is one thing -- replacing him with a rookie in Wilmer Flores is another. If that's not enough, the Mets most consistent bat on the year (David Murphy) has been slumping and faces a lefty. So the most dangerous player on this club right now is... Marlon Byrd? Get Corbin active tonight.
A.J. Pierzynski - C
After losing Nelson Cruz to the PED suspensions, Pierzynski has moved up a slot in the lineup and should see plenty of men on base tonight vs the lefty Bedard. Bedard was scratched from his last start and sports a cool 5.65 home ERA.
Mike Napoli - 1B
This is my BvP play of the day. Although it is hard to rationalize starting Napoli, due to his recent struggles, he's slugging .944 vs Santana in his career - and has hit 11 of his 14 homers vs righties this year. Those are some juicy matchup numbers.
Adrian Beltre - 3B
Another player I see having a monster game tonight is Beltre. He smashes lefties, is playing in a hitter's park, and all while going up against an under-average pitcher tonight in Erik Bedard. Possibility for a 2 homer game here?
Jayson Werth - OF
Werth's value on these daily league sites reminds me of a bad penny stock. One week he is one of the most expensive outfielders on the board. The next hes priced below average. This is obviously due to his extremely streaky season, and today we are getting a price on the lower end of his spectrum. Werth has been crushing lefties this year, and gets a juicy matchup with John Lannan - who he's crushed 4 homers off of in his career.
Andrew McCutchen - OF
Another player who crushes lefties, has been super hot recently, and is playing in the hitter's heaven Coors Field. McCutchen's price is high tonight, but I see him easily meeting his value today.
