Daily Fantasy Leagues - FanDuel Lineup Picks (5/30)
Please check the posted lineups and weather forecasts for each game before finalizing your lineup.
SP: Marco Estrada @ CHC ($7500)
As I noted last week, Estrada is one of the most underrated pitchers in MLB. His 8.40 K/9 this year is consistent with the 8.30 mark he posted in 2013, and he sports a pristine 3.56 K/BB ratio. Estrada’s biggest problem is that he’s prone to giving up home runs. As a team, the Cubs have lowest wRC+ against RHP in the MLB at 71. Moreover, their lineup is prone to striking out, which further increases Estrada’s expected point total. Estrada is a top three SP option on Friday, and his reasonable salary makes him the best choice at the position.
2B: Jason Kipnis vs. COL (vs. Juan Nicasio, RHP) ($2800)
The Indians lineup has been stellar this year, and I expect them to score a ton of runs against Nicasio and the feeble Rockies’ bullpen. Kipnis is a top three offensive 2B in the MLB, but his price tag has been slashed since he’s fresh off the DL. I doubt the Indians would rush their franchise player back unless he was 100 percent. Kipnis is worth a roll of the dice given his impressive track record and favorable matchup.
3B: Trevor Plouffe @ NYY (vs. Vidal Nuno, LHP) ($2800)
Plouffe has had a great season so far. On FanDuel, he’s averaging 2.5 PPG, which is more than David Wright, Pablo Sandoval, Evan Longoria or Matt Carpenter. Plouffe is also a significantly better hitter against LHP. Nuno is a subpar LHP who’s only in the Yankee’s rotation due to a bevy of injuries. Plouffe should also benefit from playing in homer-friendly Yankee Stadium. He is very cheap given his performance this season and plus matchup.
OF: Jay Bruce @ ARI (vs. Bronson Arroyo, RHP) ($3100)
Like Kipnis, Bruce is fresh off the DL. He hasn't done much since being activated earlier this week, but streaks are very common for power hitters like Bruce. As I’ve mentioned before, I like taking high-upside players-- Bruce is always a home run threat, and Arroyo is one of the worst pitchers in the MLB against left-handed hitters. Bruce is definitely worthy of one of your OF slots on Friday.
