Daily Fantasy Leagues - FanDuel Lineup Picks (5/26)

Jeff Samardzija Chicago Cubs MLB NewsP: Jeff Samardzija ($8,000): Bold prediction of the day, Samardzija will finally be rewarded with his first win of the season today! Despite leading the league in ERA at 1.46 and having 54 strikeouts in 68 innings, the Cubs ace is 0-4. He has yet to give up more than 3 runs in any start and has given up 0 runs in 4 of his 10 outings. He faces a Giants team that is 10th in baseball in runs scored but just 23rd in average so runs should be at a premium.

C: Yan Gomes ($3,000): DFS players who are big into BvP stats will not like Gomes today as he is 0/7 career against Jose Quintana. However, Gomes has been one of the hottest catchers in fantasy as he hitting over .300 with 10 runs scored in his last two weeks. He is also hitting 30 points higher in his career against left handed pitchers so he should be due to bust out against Quintana today.

1B: Edwin Encarnacion ($4,800): Over the last 30 days of play, Encarnacion is leading all 1B in homeruns (13), RBI (31), and runs scored (20). He also has a great match-up tonight against the left handed Erik Bedard who has been solid but has yet to go over 6 innings in a game this year. Now is not the time to face this red hot Blue Jay.

2B: Gordon Beckham ($2,900): As 2B is not a position with a ton of upside, I generally try to go cheap there so save money in other places. Today’s best low priced option is Beckham who is still very cheap despite being very good since his return from the disabled list. Now hitting leadoff, Beckham is hitting .351 over the last two weeks and is a great source of runs.

He has hits in six of his last seven games including a few multi-hit outings. His opponent today is Michael Wacha who only allowed two hits his last time out, but prior to that had two straight games of seven hits allowed. Solarte also hits in a great part of the lineup as he has Ellsbury, McCann and Teixeira to load the bases in front of him.

SS: Elvis Andrus ($2,900): Andrus is starting to heat up as he has two straight multi-hit games and hits in six of his last seven. He also has a great match-up today against Kevin Correia who has only given up less than 3 runs in one of his last seven starts while giving up more than 5 three times in that stretch. In a game that should see plenty of runs it is a good idea to have a player who is going to get to the plate a lot.

OF: Shin-Soo Choo ($4,100): We continue with another streaking Ranger who gets to face Correia today. Choo is on a five game hitting streak including 2 homeruns, 7 runs scored and 3 RBI in that stretch. Like Andrus, Choo will be at the top of a Texas lineup that should be licking its chops to face the dreadful Correia.

OF: Justin Upton ($4,000): After a down season in 2013, Upton has rebounded quite nicely in 2014 as he has 13 homeruns, 27 runs and 30 RBI. He also has been rolling with at least 1 RBI in seven of his last eight games and 4 homeruns in that stretch. Today he faces Clay Buchholz who has a season ERA of 6.32 and has allowed 29 hits in his last three starts. Start the super talented Brave with a ton of confidence.
