Diamondbacks @ Pirates
More or Less Contest
JT Brubaker more than 4.5 strikeouts and Madison Bumgarner more than 4.5 strikeouts
While Brubaker has not been as sharp as he was early in the season, he has still managed to get over this strikeout total in six of his previous eight starts and against much stiffer competition than that of the Diamondbacks. The Diamondbacks are currently posting the 12th-worst K rate against right-handers over the previous 10 days with a rate of 25.2%. They are also walking at a rate of just 7.2% over that span, which should help Brubaker get over this total tonight as well.
While the Pirates have not been a high strikeout team on the season, they are actually posting the fifth-highest K rate against left-handers over the previous 10 days with a rate of 26.1%. They are also posting a wRC+ mark of just 74 vs. lefties over that same span and are walking at an abysmal rate of just 3.7%. This should be a great matchup for Madbum as he has also gone over this total in three consecutive starts.

White Sox @ Blue Jays
More or Less Contest
Dylan Cease less than 6.5 strikeouts and Jose Berrios more than 5.5 strikeouts
Last week, we hit on Cease going over 5.5 strikeouts, but 6.5 against this Blue Jays squad feels like one too many. The Jays are currently posting the fifth-best K rate against right-handers over the previous 10 days with a rate of just 18.7%. While they are struggling to score (as far as Toronto scoring is concerned) as noted by their 97 wRC+ mark, they are still putting the ball in play. This is also a number Cease has failed to reach in four of his previous six starts and five of his previous eight starts.
Berrios could be a bit dicey tonight, but I am going to stick with his previous performances against this White Sox squad to help guide me to a more than play here. He has faced the White Sox three times this season and has posted strikeout totals of eight, 10, and zero, respectively in those three games. The White Sox are striking out at a rate of 24.5% against right-handers over the previous 10 days, which is ranked 13th-worst in the league and should be high enough for Berrios to get over the total against them again. Berrios has also gone over this total in five of his previous eight starts.
