Orioles @ Twins
More or Less Contest
John Means less than 6.5 strikeouts and Matt Shoemaker less than 4.5 strikeouts
Means has been great in 2021 to be certain, but getting over 6.5 strikeouts in this one might prove to be too difficult. The Twins have been solid lately against left-handed pitchers as they have only struck out 20.9% over the previous 10 days. They are also posting a 132 wRC+, which has them ranked seventh-best in baseball over that span. Means has only gone over the total three times on the season and has failed in his last two starts.
I would probably play shoemaker under 4.5 most days as he is just not a high strikeout pitcher. He has only reached five strikeouts three times in 2021 and two of them were against the Detroit Tigers, and we all know how bad they have been at striking out in 2021. He will be facing an Orioles team that is posting a 25.5% K rate vs. righties over the previous 10 days, which is not great, but also is not at the top of the league. They are walking at a respectable 9.8% rate over the previous 10 days, which should also make Shoemaker work even more.

Mariners @ Athletics
More or Less Contest
Yusei Kikuchi more than 5.5 strikeouts and Frankie Montas more than 4.5 strikeouts
Kikuchi has a tough matchup as the A's are only striking out at a clip of 17.1% vs. left-handers over the previous 10 days, which ranks fourth-best in baseball over that span. That being said, Kikuchi has shown he has superior stuff in 2021 and has struck out more than 5.5 against some teams like the Astros, Giants, and Orioles, who have been strong against lefties. He has gone over this total in all but two starts in 2021 and he should be able to do it here as well.
4.5 strikeouts is where you want to see Montas as he has gone over this total in five games and has reached it in two of his previous three. He will be facing a Mariners squad that is currently posting a K rate of 28.0% vs. right-handers, which is ranked seventh-worst in baseball over the previous 10 days. The Mariners are also posting just a 78 wRC+, which is ranked eighth-worst in baseball over the previous 10 days.
