MLB DFS Lineup Picks & Sleepers - DraftKings Advice for 7/5/15

Below you'll find my DFS lineup picks for July 5th 2015. As always, my goal with this article is to help you identify viable options to insert into your DraftKings lineups, based on pricing and matchups data.

Editor's Note: If you play on DraftKings, you should check out our Partner FanDuel - they're hosting a one-day Fantasy Baseball league tonight. It's just $5 to enter and pays out $60,000 in cash prizes, including 10K to 1st place!

Offenses to Target for DraftKings Stacking

Toronto Blue Jays RHB vs Justin Verlander

The right-handed batters in the Toronto Blue Jays lineup hold the top offense in the league against right-handed pitching with a wRC+ of 120. The power bats in the Blue Jays lineup should have a fine day at the plate against opposing pitcher Justin Verlander. Verlander has not been effective since returning from the disabled list. His control has definitely been off, and he now holds a 5.09 ERA with a 1.53 WHIP over three starts. Verlander has been prone to the long ball, so have a look at Edwin Encarnacion and Josh Donaldson when building your lineup.

Baltimore Orioles Middle of the Lineup vs Carlos Rodon

As a team, the Baltimore Orioles hold a top ten offense against left-handed pitching, with a wRC+ of 101. The Orioles offense has looked really great with Chris Davis heating up and the return of Adam Jones to the lineup. Carlos Rodon on the other hand has struggled to keep runners off base. He now holds a 4.07 ERA with a 1.64 WHIP. Hitters are making way too much contact with Rodon’s pitches. Go ahead and load up on the aforementioned guys, as there should be plenty of RBI opportunities on Sunday.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for DraftKings

Shelby Miller (SP, ATL) - $8600

Shelby Miller has been spectacular for the Braves this year. He now holds a 2.20 ERA with a 1.07 WHIP. His improved strikeout to walk rate has allowed him to be much more efficient in his outings. He had a hiccup in his last outing against a tough Nationals lineup but managed ten strikeouts in the process. Miller should have a great performance on Sunday against the Phillies. The Phillies hold the worst offense in the league against right-handed pitching with a wRC+ of 76.

Mike Montgomery (SP, SEA) - $7600

Mike Montgomery has been the surprise rookie stud for the Seattle Mariners. Montgomery heads into Sunday with two consecutive complete game shutouts. He struck out a total of 17 batters during that stretch, which has dispelled concerns for his luck on the mound from earlier starts. Montgomery will have a great chance to continue his string of good performances against the Oakland Athletics. The A’s struggle against left-handed pitching, holding a wRC+ of 92.

DFS Infielders to Consider for DraftKings

Jonathan Lucroy (C, MIL) - $3800

Jonathan Lucroy has been hitting extremely well as of late. He heads into the weekend 11 for his last 20, and has begun to show why he is one of the top catchers in the league. Lucroy should do well at the plate on Sunday against opposing pitcher Mike Leake. Against Leake, Lucroy is a career 12 for 27 with a home run. Leake was also hit very hard in his last outing by a mediocre Twins lineup. On the year, Leake holds a 4.38 ERA with a 1.26 WHIP.

Paul Goldschmidt (1B, ARI) - $5600

With Miguel Cabrera going down to a calf strain, Goldschmidt now becomes the undisputed primary target at first base on DraftKings. He has four multi-hit efforts in his last five games heading into the weekend. Goldschmidt now holds a .354 average with 20 home runs and 66 RBI on the year. Goldschmidt is also hitting .388 against lefties specifically. He is matched up against opposing pitcher Jorge De La Rosa, who holds a 4.59 ERA with a 1.48 WHIP.

Cesar Hernandez (2B, PHI) - $3000

Cesar Hernandez comes at an incredible bargain on DraftKings. He is the hottest second basemen in baseball right now, and can provide value through his consistent hitting as well as his speed. Hernandez is hitting .324 in the month of June. He now holds a .285 average with 1 home run and 19 RBI in limited games. The Phillies will likely have trouble against opposing pitcher Shelby Miller, but Hernandez stands as a good investment at such a low price.

Evan Longoria (3B, TB) - $3900

Evan Longoria remains a steady source of production in the Rays lineup and on DraftKings. On the year, Longoria holds a .275 average with eight home runs and 35 RBI. Longoria should be a great bargain pick on Sunday against opposing pitcher Ivan Nova. Longoria is a lifetime 9 for 30 with three home runs against Nova. Longoria is due for a power showcase and should be a risk worth taking.

Elvis Andrus (SS, TEX) - $3500

Elvis Andrus has had a rough season, and his investment price is incredibly low at this point. However, Andrus has great career numbers against opposing pitcher CJ Wilson. Against Wilson, Andrus is 10 for 24 with a home run. With the lack of top tier talent at the shortstop position, Andrus remains a good option to fill out your roster with a very cheap investment at this position.

DFS Outfielders to Consider for DraftKings

Mike Trout (OF, LAA) - $5300

Mike Trout remains as dominant as ever. A recent string of good games has once again brought his average over .300. He now holds a .303 average with 21 home runs and 44 RBI. The power remains steady and plentiful. Trout’s talent should be on full display on Sunday against opposing pitcher Colby Lewis. Trout is a career 8 for 22 with two home runs against Lewis.

J.D. Martinez (OF, DET) - $5000

JD Martinez is the hottest outfielder in baseball. He can be difficult to play when he gets cold and strikes out a lot. However, when he heats up, he can go on some incredible hitting streaks with power. Martinez now holds a .284 average with 21 home runs and 53 RBI. He has been an incredible source of RBI with his own power as well as the stellar Detroit offense getting on base in front of him. Martinez is facing opposing pitcher Marco Estrada, who really struggled with his control in his last outing.

Cameron Maybin (OF, ATL) - $3700

Cameron Maybin is a must-play for Sunday’s slate of games. Maybin has two three-hit games heading into Sunday, and now holds a .287 average with 7 home runs and 39 RBI on the year. Maybin also has great career numbers against opposing pitcher Cole Hamels. Against Hamels, Maybin is a lifetime12 for 32. At Maybin’s current investment price, he makes for an incredible pick as your tertiary outfielder.
