Mother's Day is coming up and the flowers and cards and brunches can get pretty expensive, especially in this writer's native New York City. But if you follow the advice in this column and take these players for Friday, May 8th's DraftKings DFS, maybe you'll be able to splurge and give mom or grandma or your spouse something she'll really love on Sunday.
Stacking Offenses to Target for DraftKings DFS
Toronto RHB vs Wade Miley
Miley allowed 18 homers to righties last year and has a 5.40 road ERA this season. Though he's held righties to a .238 average with no homers so far this season, expect his luck to run out. I'd confidently play righties Josh Donaldson, Jose Bautista, Russell Martin and Devon Travis (see later) against the Boston lefty.
Reds vs Hector Noesi
Noesi has a 5.23 home ERA this season after a 4.87 mark last season at The Cell with 19 home runs allowed in just over 101 innings. Cincinnati happens to be second in the big leagues in road home runs, which should continue with boppers Todd Frazier, Joey Votto, Jay Bruce and Zack Cozart.
DFS Pitchers To Consider for DraftKings
Gio Gonzalez ($9,500) vs Braves
Gonzalez has thrown six scoreless home innings thus far this season, and the Braves have the 23rd ranked OPS against lefty pitching this season as of Thursday night. Look for Gio to continue his success at Nationals Park on Friday night.
Matt Harvey ($11,000) vs Phillies
This seems like the obvious call, but it’s a good one. Harvey sports a 1.82 road ERA so far this season and the Phils are batting .216/.274/.318 at Citizens Bank Park this season with a total of 33 runs scored in 12 games.
DFS Catchers To Consider for DraftKings
Stephen Vogt ($3,800) vs Mariners
Vogt is a catcher with good average and power away from home, which is fairly rare. Vogt is hitting .347 with six homers away from the O.co Coliseum and is going up against Taijuan Walker, who was shelled his last time out against the A's. Walker allowed nine earned runs in 3.2 innings against Oakland earlier this season and the A's are looking to repeat that success against the tall right-hander.
DFS Infielders To Consider for DraftKings
Prince Fielder ($4,200) - 1B- vs Rays
Hitting .403 against righties this season and is batting .310 away from Arlington. Tampa Bay starter Nathan Karns has a 5.40 ERA at home, making this matchup all the more inviting despite Karns' limited success against lefty hitters this season.
Adam Lind ($4,400) - 1B- vs Cubs
Lind has cooled off a bit after his torrid April, but is still hitting .389 at home and .329 against righties with five homers. In addition, Chicago starter Jason Hammel is allowing a .311 average to road opponents with a 4.91 ERA.
Devon Travis ($3,300) - 2B- vs Red Sox
Travis has three homers in 22 at bats, and a .773 slugging percentage, against lefties this year and is hitting .356/.396/.644 at home. Feel confident in playing him against Miley and Boston.
Left side of Miami's infield- vs Giants
File this one under sleeper. Known as a defensive shortstop, Adeiny Hechavarria is a stunning 21-for-50 (.420) away from Marlins Park this season. Tim Lincecum is off to a strong start, but I don't trust his track record. If you need a cheap option, go with Hechavarria.
Third baseman Martin Prado is also enjoying himself away from home, hitting .352 in 54 road at bats going into Thursday's games. Both Marlins are intriguing options for your Friday lineup.
DFS Outfielders To Consider for DraftKings
Matt Holliday ($4,100) vs Pirates
Though Francisco Liriano is a tough matchup, Holliday is hitting.364 against lefties this season to go with a.324 batting average away from Busch Stadium.
Josh Reddick ($4,700) vs Mariners
Redick has cooled off after his scorching last week, but he still sports a .327 road average and a .382 average against righties.
