Offenses to Target for DraftKings Stacking
New York Yankees Middle of the Lineup vs Williams Perez
As a team, the New York Yankees hold a top ten offense against right-handed pitching, with a wRC+ of 101. The Yankees will have a great matchup on Friday going against Williams Perez, who has been awful over his past six starts and now carries a 4.76 ERA with a 1.54 WHIP. The Yankees bats have actually struggled as of late, and so their price tags have taken a hit. Take advantage of this, and have a look at Mark Teixeira and Alex Rodriguez as value infield picks.
Houston Astros Middle of the Lineup vs Kyle Gibson
As a team, the Houston Astros hold a top ten offense against right-handed pitching, with a wRC+ of 100. Two great hitters in the lineup to target against opposing pitcher Kyle Gibson include Carlos Gomez and Evan Gattis. Gomez is being severely undervalued and can get hot against mediocre pitching at any time. Gattis has been on a hot streak as of late and can take advantage of Gibson’s contact-style of pitching.
DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for DraftKings
Ian Kennedy (SP, SD) - $9000
Ian Kennedy should be a great value pick as your primary starting pitcher against the Philadelphia Phillies. The Phillies hold the second-worst offense in the league against right-handed pitching, with a wRC+ of 86. Kennedy has also been on a roll as of late, as he holds a 2.27 ERA since the All Star Break. His strikeout rate has also improved, which only adds to his value against a weak offense.
Aaron Nola (SP, PHI) - $8000
Kennedy’s opponent Aaron Nola should also be in line for a nice day on the mound. Nola was able to pitch extremely effectively against the Miami Marlins in his last outing. Nola has a very favorable matchup against the San Diego Padres, who hold a bottom-ten offense against right-handed pitching with a wRC+ of 92.
DFS Infielders to Consider for DraftKings
Yadier Molina (C, STL) - $2900
Yadier Molina continues to be a consistent bargain option, as he faces opposing pitcher Mike Leake on the road. Molina holds a wRC+ of 95 against right-handed pitching on the year. His value on Friday comes from the hot offense around him. Molina has been afforded many RBI opportunities as of late. He has been able to supplement his consistent hitting with 10 RBIs in his last nine games.
Chris Davis (1B, BAL) - $4300
Chris Davis has cooled down but still remains a great option against opposing pitcher Cole Hamels on the road. Davis has crushed left-handed pitching this year, with a wRC+ of 145. Hamels has also been mediocre since arriving in Texas, as opposing batters have hit .304 against the southpaw in his past four starts.
Wilmer Flores (2B, NYM) - $3600
Wilmer Flores looks to be an excellent value pick against opposing pitcher Henry Owens at home. Flores has hit left-handed pitching extremely well this year, with a wOBA of .381. Flores is also 13 for his last 32 with three home runs. He should have a great day at the plate, as Owens has been prone to the long ball and only has one quality start under his belt.
Josh Donaldson (3B, TOR) - $5700
Josh Donaldson is worth every dollar of his investment price as he faces opposing pitcher Matt Boyd at home. Donaldson holds an amazing .464 wOBA against left-handed pitching this year and is also 12 for his last 33 with three home runs. Boyd on the other hand remains a complete liability on the mound and holds a 7.04 ERA with a 1.63 WHIP on the season.
Troy Tulowitzki (SS, TOR) - $4300
Troy Tulowitzki should be the beneficiary of Donaldson’s power behind him. Tulo has also hit left-handed pitching extremely well this year, holding a wOBA of .323. Tulo has been able to grab a few multi-hit games over the past week and still proves to be a consistent source of runs with the stellar offense behind him.
DFS Outfielders to Consider for DraftKings
Nelson Cruz (OF, SEA) - $5600
Nelson Cruz and left-handed pitching go together like butter on toast. Suffice to say, Cruz should be a great pick against opposing pitcher John Danks on the road. Cruz holds a wRC+ of 222 against left-handed pitching this season and is also a career 7 for 23 with a home run against the southpaw.
Austin Jackson (OF, SEA) - $3700
Cruz’s outfield teammate Austin Jackson should be a great pick as your secondary or tertiary outfielder against John Danks. Jackson only holds a wRC+ of 98 against left-handed pitching this season. However, he has completely dominated Danks in his career matchup, going 23 for 52 with three home runs.
Byron Buxton (OF, MIN) - $2900
Byron Buxton looks to be a great sleeper pick on Friday as he faces opposing pitcher Scott Kazmir at home. Buxton only holds a wOBA of .195 against left-handed pitching this season. However, since returning to the majors last week, Buxton has hit .300 and provided steady value through runs. Be on the lookout for Buxton if you are entering a larger competition pool and you have spent heavily elsewhere.
