The end of August brings us a huge day of college football and a big main slate of baseball with 10 games this evening. I'm switching gears back to MLB to close out the month right!
This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on Saturday, August 31, 2024, with the slate starting at 7:05 p.m. EDT. The lineup picks will range from some elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Bryan Woo at LAA ($8.8K DraftKings; $10.8K FanDuel)
Before this August, Bryan Woo has never gone 6.1 IP or longer in a start. He's gone 6.1 innings or longer in each of his 5 starts this month. pic.twitter.com/KwMkWLFn7i
— Cam 🔱 (@Camd3n_10) August 25, 2024
Woo's excellent command keeps the pitch count down so the Mariners aren't wearing him out. Woo has only allowed seven runs (six earned) in 34 August innings with 31 strikeouts. One of those games against the Dodgers and another against the Phillies.
He's not scared of the Angels. They have struck out at a 27% rate against RHP over the last month and have the worst wRC in the majors in that span. It's shaping up to be another great start for Woo.
Gavin Stone at ARI ($8.3K DraftKings; $10.1K FanDuel)
Stone is a DK-only play for me. That price is too steep on FD. Stone has been an ace over his last three starts. He has only allowed two earned runs in 19 innings while striking out 23. The Diamondbacks aren't striking out a lot, but they aren't making meaningful contact either. Stone has a high ceiling for the price of DK.
Zebby Matthews vs. TOR ($7.4K DraftKings; $7.8K FanDuel)
Like Woo, Matthews has also shown excellent control in the minors and majors this year. Toronto will be his toughest test in the majors so far, but Matthews doesn't hurt himself. Toronto isn't striking out a lot, but they are also in the middle of the pack in every metric against RHP over the last month. Zebby won't wow you with strikeouts, but we should get results.
Also consider: Zack Wheeler vs. ATL, Cody Bradford vs. OAK, Joey Estes at TEX

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Francisco Lindor – SS, NYM at CWS ($5.8K DK; $3.8K FD)
Lindor is hitting .349 with four homers, seven RBI, nine runs scored, and a steal over the last 10 games. He gets to feast on White Sox pitching on the South Side this weekend. There are a lot of crazy salaries in the SS world. Lindor is a bit under the radar, but he projects better than those higher-priced than him today.
J.T. Realmuto – C, PHI vs. ATL ($4.4K DK; $3K FD)
First off, no one plays a catcher on FanDuel. You already have an edge. Second, Realmuto smashes Max Fried. He is 16-for-44 (.364) with four homers against Fried in his career. On top of that, Realmuto is on a heater anyway. He is hitting .351 over the last 10 games with three homers, 11 RBI, and a steal. A steal! Now he's just showing off!
Stolen Bases by Catchers since June 5th, 2014 (the day J.T. Realmuto made his MLB Debut):
95- J.T. Realmuto
32- Christian Vazquez
31- Yadier Molina
31- Willson Contreras
21- Austin Barnespic.twitter.com/IwwPLEpsbJ— Phillies Tailgate (@PhilsTailgate) August 15, 2024
Paul DeJong – 3B, KC vs. Yusei Kikuchi ($3.5K DK; $2.8K FD)
DeJong has homered three times in the last five games. Kikuchi has allowed 21 long balls in 27 starts this season. He has been better with Houston, but he wasn't all that sharp against Baltimore in his last start. DeJong provides a lot of salary relief and good upside in this price range.
Also consider: Shohei Ohtani, Trea Turner, Connor Norby
DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Yordan Alvarez – OF, HOU vs. Cole Ragans ($6K DK; $3.8K FD)
We could just make Yordan a standing pick at this point, right? This may seem like a bad matchup for Yordan, but he is one of the few and the proud that have had success against Ragans. Yordan is 6-for-11 in his career against Ragans with three doubles. One of those is bound to leave the yard at some point...
Lawrence Butler – OF, OAK vs. Cody Bradford ($4K DK; $2.9K FD)
Butler is no stranger to hot streaks. He has had a couple this season. He has six homers in his current nine-game hitting streak. He continues to lead off against every pitcher since he hits lefties at about the same clip as righties. He's worth using until he cools off again.
Victor Robles – OF, SEA vs. Tyler Anderson ($3.7K DK; $2.7K FD)
Robles is hitting .378 over the last 10 games, but what is really boosting his value is the five steals in that time. The seven RBI won't hurt you either. Robles has six multi-hit games in his last eight. His price is very reasonable for the numbers he's putting up.
Also consider: Brenton Doyle, Brent Rooker, Weston Wilson
