Happy April 20 to those of you who celebrate. Our Saturday is split up today with more of the action taking place in the early afternoon. Eight of the 15 games are on the early slates on DraftKings while FanDuel chops the early up a little more. Prices on FD will be taken from the all-day, but the prices are universal on all slates. FanDuel split the early slate up four games and four games for some dumb reason.
This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 4/20/2024, with the slate starting at 1:05 p.m. EDT. The lineup picks will range from some elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. Monitoring injury news and today's MLB starting lineups is also essential.
Just a note: FanDuel only has a very early and early slate that encompasses the eight games on here. They don't have an eight-game slate. It's either the two four-gamers or the all-day tilt.
DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Kutter Crawford at Pirates ($8,000 DraftKings; $9,200 FanDuel)
Ronel Blanco's stats are sexy and he's facing Washington, but is he going to be that much better than the middle tier of pitching today? I have my doubts. The Pirates have a bloated 26.4% strikeout rate against right-handed pitching to start the season. To top that off, they have only scored 14 runs in the last 10 games. The hot start was fun for a week, but the Pirates' offense has dried up again and Kutter is going to reap the rewards.
Javier Assad vs. Marlins ($7,900 DraftKings; $8,900 FanDuel)
Assad has only allowed four runs in three starts this year. On top of that, the Marlins are off to a 1962-Mets-like start at 4-16 on the season. They aren't hitting anyone well and Assad has an ERA under three. We'll see some more quality innings for Assad this afternoon.
Bailey Ober vs. Tigers ($7,000 DraftKings; $8,800 FanDuel)
Yeah, Ober's numbers on the year are ugly, but that's the danger with just looking at the overall numbers. They are skewed by a monumentally bad outing against the Royals in his first start of the season when Ober allowed nine runs (eight earned) with only recording four outs. Since then, he held the Dodgers to one run in five innings and blanked the Tigers through six. He only struck out three Tigers in that one, but he still racked up 17.7 DK points. He's an absolute bargain at $7,000.
Also consider: Ronel Blanco at WAS, Reese Olson at MIN

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Triston Casas - 1B, BOS vs. Mitch Keller ($4,900 DK; $3,100 FD)
Do you trust Mitch Keller? I don't either, but he can be a world-class troll. Even trolls give up runs from time to time. If Keller does, Casas is the favorite to get him. Casas has struggled against breaking pitches, but Keller throws some variation of a fastball 72.4% of the time. Casas has great plate discipline, so he'll wait for Keller to miss with a fastball, which is bound to happen.
In the month of April. Triston Casas has slashed .286/.375/.619 with six home runs and nine RBI over 72 PA. New England's most beloved oddball! pic.twitter.com/eHRETem4TD

Brice Turang – 2B, MIL vs. Miles Mikolas ($3,800 DK; $3,300 FD)
Mikolas is mostly a junkballer. He throws a lot of mediocre pitches and tries to keep hitters off-balance by mixing up to seven pitches. The problem is that Turang hits sliders, four-seamers, and sinkers very well. Mikolas throws one of those three 74.2% of the time. Turang is hitting a combined .515 against those pitches so far this year. Let's not forget that Turang hasn't been shut out yet this season. All he does is get points.
Nolan Arenado – 3B, STL vs. DL Hall ($4,600 DK; $3,000 FD)
Don't look now, but Arenado is riding an eight-game hitting streak. The slow start to the season is a distant memory right now. That price on FD is a very nice bargain for a guy coming in hot like Arenado. We have to think about it a little on DK, but Arenado profiles well against Hall, who is mainly a fastball and changeup pitcher.
Also consider: Christian Walker, Jose Altuve, CJ Abrams
DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Yordan Alvarez - OF, HOU vs. Trevor Williams ($5,600 DK; $4,100 FD)
I could just leave Yordan's Statcast page and be done with it. It is worth noting that Alvarez destroys everything but split-finger fastballs and knuckleballs. Of all the junk that Williams throws, those aren't in his arsenal. Alvarez feels like a bargain at this price.
Amed Rosario - 2B/OF, TB vs. Nestor Cortes ($4,100 DK; $2,900 FD)
Rosario is only eligible at SS on FD, but with the UTIL slot, that doesn't matter too much. Rosario is 4-for-7 with two homers in his career against Cortes. He's a nice bargain on FD, but still fairly reasonable on DK as well.
Blake Perkins - OF, MIL vs. Miles Mikloas ($3,400 DK; $3,100 FD)
Perkins is a bit of a hard sell on FD at that price, but he's a nice bargain on DK. He has filled in nicely for Christian Yelich, hitting .341 with a pair of homers and six RBI in 11 games. He's still mired in the lower third of the order but isn't a risk to be pinch-hit for since he's a switch hitter.
Also consider: Shohei Ohtani, Michael Conforto, Sal Frelick
