Welcome to the weekend! First pitch is at 2:05 ET so be aware of the quirky start time.
In this article, I’ll be providing you with the top starting pitcher streamers for daily fantasy baseball (DFS) and for seasonal leagues for 5/21/16. These streamers will range from high-priced / high-ownership options to low-priced / low-ownership options, and will be sleepers and value picks for your cash games and GPPs on DraftKings and FanDuel, and also for seasonal leagues with daily lineups.
There'll be three main sections of this article: our Pitcher Matchups Tool’s top plays, my value plays, and pitchers to fade. I highly recommend you check out the Daily Pitcher Matchups Ratings tool - it's an extremely useful tool for daily fantasy or seasonal streaming for finding the diamonds in the rough. Anyways, let's get cracking!
Daily Pitcher Matchup Ratings Tool Top Plays
Jose Fernandez (SP, MIA) vs Nationals
JoFer has lost only one game at Marlins Park in his career and has been dominating lately (0.64 ERA and 22 K in last two starts). He crushed the Nationals in their last go-round (7 IP, 11 K) and I expect more of the same today.
Jacob deGrom (SP, NYM) vs Brewers
Unlike teammate Matt Harvey, deGrom has bounced back from a rough start. deGrom has a 3-1 record and 1.38 ERA versus the Brewers and faces the mediocre Zach Davies. This will be an easy Mets win.
Max’s Value Plays of the Day
Robbie Ray (SP, ARI) at Cardinals
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I listed Patrick Corbin here yesterday because the Cardinals hate lefties and I'll keep things going with Ray. The Cardinals .235 average and .654 OPS versus LHP are third-worst in baseball.
Tyler Chatwood (SP, COL) at Pirates
Here's a pitcher not getting close to enough credit thanks to his home park. Away from Coors, Chatwood has a 4-0 record and 0.33 ERA in four starts. The Pirates strike out 21.9% of the time versus righties (fourth-worst) and are hitting just .241 (fifth-worst).
Starting Pitchers to Fade in Daily Fantasy Baseball
Felix Hernandez (SP, SEA) at Reds
Hernandez has held his own in recent starts but he is playing with fire. Hitters are 4-for-50 (.080) with runners in scoring position. The Reds bats have come to life lately, and a date at Great American is enough to scare me off King Felix.
Danny Duffy (SP, KC) at White Sox
The Royals already said he has a 60-pitch limit. Don't get cute.
