Atlanta Braves @ Philadelphia Philles
O/U: 8.5 | Moneyline: PHI +118
ATL: Charlie Morton | PHI: Matt Moore
Fresh off of getting swept in two games by the Yankees, the Phillies return home to Citizens Bank Park to start a divisional series with Atlanta. Tonight they send Matt Moore (0-1, 5.25 ERA) to the mound. Moore has struggled to go deep into games this year, only going five full innings twice.
Atlanta will be handing the ball to Charlie Morton (8-3, 3.69 ERA). Morton has been better on the road than at home (2.67 ERA) this year. While the Phillies have seen him well, I expect Morton to take advantage of a Phillies team that struggled to score runs against subpar pitching this week in New York.
I know that Atlanta is somewhat riddled with injuries, but Bryce Harper left the game last night after fouling a ball off of his foot, and I wouldn't be shocked if he isn't in the lineup tonight. Grab the Braves at a decent price.
Pick: Braves Moneyline (-138) FanDuel Sportsbook
Oakland Athletics @ Seattle Mariners
O/U: 7.5 | Moneyline: SEA +122
OAK: Sean Manaea | SEA: Chris Flexen
Seattle heads home after splitting a two-game series with the Rockies in Coors Field. They'll send the guy I thought was going to go yesterday, my guy KBO Chris Flexen. Flexen has been very solid (9-3, 3.35 ERA) this year, but did struggle in his one start against the Athletics, going six innings and allowing five runs.
The A's plan is to send southpaw Sean Manaea (6-6, 3.28 ERA) to the mound today. They had yesterday off, which is a nice advantage as they are 9-4 after a day rest this season. Manaea was stellar in his one start against the M's this season, throwing a complete-game shutout back on June 2.
The Mariners are certainly better at home (29-20), but the A's are just about as good (25-18) on the road. The A's are also great against teams that allow 4.2 runs or better (45-25), while the Mariners struggle against teams that limit opponents to 3.9-4.2 runs per game (5-6). Expect Oakland to handle business and make headway in the season series this evening.
Picks: Athletics Moneyline (-144), FanDuel Sportsbook
Let's get after it today! We have a long second half ahead of us, so let's have some fun and win some money!
