Happy Monday and welcome to the All-Star Break RotoBallers! John, aka 'LucidMedia," with a special edition of Monday picks for the Home Run Derby this evening. I absolutely crushed the 2019 Derby, going 6-1 in my selections including picking the finalists (Guerrero vs Alonso) and picking the correct winner (Alonso). I look to have a repeat performance as we have an exciting Derby ahead of us tonight at Coors Field.
As always, I mainly bet on FanDuel Sportsbook, and that's where the odds below will be coming from. I know not everyone is able to bet on Fanduel, so if you are betting elsewhere just make sure to shop around and find the best odds.

First Round Winners
We have a star-studded field of power hitters in this one tonight, including everyone's favorite two-way Japanese stud Shohei Ohtani. There's little doubt that Shohei will go full Sho-time in the first round against Juan Soto, but there is a lot of juice in that pick. However, I like predicting the semi-final matchup, selecting Ohtani to matchup with defending champion, Pete Alonso.
There is another guy that I am looking to take to advance through the first round, one of the biggest power bats in the game, Joey Gallo. This is a tough one as he's facing up against hometown hero Trevor Story, but I do believe Gallo has too much pop to not get the job done.

Pick The Finalists
I'll be ducking tomatoes as I make this pick, as I'll regrettably be fading Ohtani to make the finals. I think he has a more difficult matchup in the first round against Juan Soto, and in the current Derby format, that doesn't bode well for Ohtani. While I think he puts on a light show in the first, I'm afraid he may be a bit worn out in the second round. This opens the door for the defending champ to make his way back to the finals. On the other side, I'm riding with my guy Gallo, who I think relatively speaking has the easiest path to winning the Derby, based on matchups.
