MLB Betting Picks (9/7/2020) - Moneylines, Totals, and Runlines

Bryce Harper - Philadelphia Phillies

Tom Bellucco recommends betting picks for the MLB slate on 9/7/2020. He breaks down each team's situation and suggests the top picks on moneylines, totals, runlines, and more!

Welcome back, RotoBallers! A solid 4-2 finish on Sunday has us continuing in the green direction for another day! We have another solid day of MLB games capped off by what a great Game 5 in the NBA and a marvelous Monday Night Football game in the NCAA. Boy oh boy does it feel good to have all of these sports thriving at once. Let's hope there's only blue skies and the return of fans on the near horizon.

As I'm sure you already know know, Steve Janik and I will be sharing the duties of writing up an MLB Betting article every day of the week! All season long we'll be supplying you MLB betting articles with a few of our favorite picks for the day in baseball. Along with the picks, we'll give a little write-up with some supporting evidence for the picks, and we'll keep track of our records throughout the course of the season. You can always find my updated picks for the day as well as my running tally @BellRoto on Twitter. I'll also do my best to continue posting my picks there on my "Off Days" for this series.

  • Sunday, September 7: 4-2
  • 2020 Season Total: 95-74

Without further ado, let's get to the picks for today's slate. Please make sure to follow me on Twitter @BellRoto, as I'll post any updates and/or additions to these picks there throughout the day. I'll also field any questions or comments on Twitter as well as in our Premium RotoBaller Slack Chat under the Sports Betting channel. Here we go!

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and resources:

Philadelphia Phillies (-126) at New York Mets

O/U: 9

PHI: Zack Wheeler, NYM: David Peterson

This is a perfect bounce back spot for a Phillies offense that's gotten embarrassed the past two days, scoring just two runs in as many games, and watching the Mets offense string together big innings. Zack Wheeler looked like his old self against the Nationals last time out, and he gets a lineup with even less pop against New York. Meanwhile, lefty bullpen long-arm David Peterson will start for the Mets, but I don't foresee him throwing more than four innings at the most. Let's hope that Philly offense gets going early and often. If they get put up four runs or more, that should be plenty of support for Wheeler in this one.

Pick: Phillies ML (-126) 2 Units

New York Yankees at Toronto Blue Jays (-130)

O/U: 9

NYY: Jordan Montgomery, TOR: Hyun Jin Ryu

A questionable, inconsistent starter for the Yanks and a depleted offense has this line favoring the Blue Jays quite a bit. I'm a Ryu truther, so I'm not necessarily disagreeing with the reasoning of this. That being said, a depleted Yankees offense is still as dangerous as any other lineup in the league. And while the Blue Jays have some pop in their young lineup too, I'll take New York's depth over Toronto in that category. We're going to need a good outing from Montgomery, and Ryu is going to have to make a couple mistakes, but the value of an underdog Yankees team with a dominant bullpen coming off a loss on Sunday is too tempting to pass up.

Pick: Yankees ML (+111) 1 Unit

Arizona Diamondbacks at San Francisco Giants (-124)

O/U: 8

ARI: Zac Gallen, SF: Kevin Gausman

I've given analysis about this scenario time and time again for both the Dbacks and the Giants. So, I'll spare you the words. I still think Gallen is one of the best up-and-coming pitchers in the league. Kevin Gausman? Not so much. And even with the loss of Starling Marte, I'll take this Arizona offense over San Fran's group of what seem like misfits (though they continue to prove me wrong and get the job done). I may learn my lesson eventually, but it won't be tonight!

Pick: Diamondbacks ML (+104) 1 Unit
