Welcome back, RotoBallers! Saturday is a big day for the return of college football, but that doesn't mean we can't continue to ride this MLB hot streak that I'm currently on as well. I'm back up over 15 units profit for the year, and these two-unit plays have been nearly unstoppable of late. Surely another cold spell is coming before season's end, but might as well keep rolling until we cool off, right? I hope you've made some cash along the way.
As I'm sure you already know know, Steve Janik and I will be sharing the duties of writing up an MLB Betting article every day of the week! All season long we'll be supplying you MLB betting articles with a few of our favorite picks for the day in baseball. Along with the picks, we'll give a little write-up with some supporting evidence for the picks, and we'll keep track of our records throughout the course of the season. You can always find my updated picks for the day as well as my running tally @BellRoto on Twitter. I'll also do my best to continue posting my picks there on my "Off Days" for this series.
- Friday, September 4: 1-2
- 2020 Season Total: 90-70
Without further ado, let's get to the picks for today's slate. Please make sure to follow me on Twitter @BellRoto, as I'll post any updates and/or additions to these picks there throughout the day. I'll also field any questions or comments on Twitter as well as in our Premium RotoBaller Slack Chat under the Sports Betting channel. Here we go!

San Diego Padres at Oakland Athletics (-115)
O/U: 8
SD: Chris Paddack, OAK: Sean Manaea
Don't get me wrong, these are two GREAT young pitchers, and I wouldn't fault you for saying that either pitcher should be able to hold the opposing offense at bay in this one. That being said, I see a different level of domination when I watch Chris Paddack on the bump. He's faced some rough waters so far in this short sophomore season, but he got back to his normal self in a great outing at Coors Field last time around. Now he gets a pitcher friendly park against a lineup that's known for plenty of swings and misses. Sean Manaea could have a solid outing himself, as he's come around the past few starts as well, but Paddack is on another tier for me, and I also prefer this dynamic Padres offense. Let's keep up the success with these two-unit plays!
Pick: Padres (-105) 2 Units
Colorado Rockies at Los Angeles Dodgers (-182)
O/U: 9
COL: German Marquez, LAD: Tony Gonsolin
This one is about buying low on one of my favorite pitchers in the league, German Marquez. He has struggled to avoid big counts and pitch deep into games of late, and his ERA has suffered mightily because. That being said, the Marquez I know can be uber-efficient by getting early ground balls to pair with his nasty off-speed pitches when ahead in the count. Tony Gonsolin has been good early on in his career, but there will be plenty of bullpen arms for the Rockies to score off based on Gonsolin's innings limits thus far. I'm going to back the more trusted arm here, even though the offense of the Dodgers does make me a little nervous. But that's why the number is so juicy!
Pick: Rockies ML (+157) 1 Unit
Arizona Diamondbacks at San Francisco Giants (138)
O/U: 9
ARI: Madison Bumgarner, SF: Trevor Cahill
You're going to give me Madison Bumgarner returning home to San Fran for the first time as a Dback as an underdog and expect me NOT to play it?! I don't care if MadBum is coming off an injury. This is one of the most competitive starters of our generation, and I'm confident he wouldn't be out there unless he was healthy. Trevor Cahill is also dealing with a hip issue that shortened his last outing, though he has been awfully productive this season. And lastly, I'll continue to stand pat on the Giants offense not being as good as the short season numbers show. Let's see if the Dbacks find another painful way to lose me money. Either way, this will be a fun one to watch.
Pick: Diamondbacks ML (+118) 1 Unit
Good luck RotoBallers, and don't forget to check me out on Twitter @BellRoto for updated picks throughout the day!
