ANALYSIS: The most recent news coming from Broadway (other than Trae Young sucking in MSG, just in case) are the ones concerning young Knicks forward Obi Toppin, who will miss the next two-to-three weeks before making a comeback.
While that injury won't impact anyone playing basketball in New York (because Thibs...), the truth is that at least a few minutes will be added to Mitchell Robinson's playing time numbers.
I don't think there is any secret to discussing what makes Robinson great and an appealing fantasy asset. He's a very particular, special player with limited overall upside but two-cat supremacy. That is, of course, thanks to his rebounding and shot-blocking prowess.
Robinson has pulled down at least 10 rebounds in five of his last six games while blocking at least one shot in seven of his last eight matches. Robinson has yet to play back-to-back games without blocking at least one shot this season.
Through Saturday games, MR is averaging 1.9 BPG (second in the NBA) and 8.1 RPG (34th). Only seven players are putting up at least 8+ RPG and 1.5 BPG figures on a game-to-game basis.
Of course, among those in that group, Robinson is a net zero in floor-stretching but makes up for that with a great FG% figure on low volume (71+ percent from the floor on 4.4 FGA per game).
