ANALYSIS: Mitch Moreland has never been a terribly exciting player for fantasy purposes. His struggles against left-handed pitching and streaky nature generally have put him firmly into the streamer or bench bat bucket. You can give him points for consistency in the power department, though; he's hit 23, 23, 22, and 22 home runs in his last four full seasons.
Moreland is currently running hot, with four multi-hit efforts and four homers in his last six games. That barrage has brought his season line up to a cool .325/.389/.638. Exactly half of his 26 hits have gone for extra bases, and he's showing the best plate discipline metrics of his career thus far. This level of production is unlikely to last given his track record, but Moreland is basically the only Red Sox hitter worth owning who's widely available on the waiver wire, and he's hitting in the middle of the lineup.
