ANALYSIS: Texas Rangers pitcher Mike Minor has now won six of his seven starts, is up to 12-7 on the season, and had struck out seven batters in his previous two starts. Since the All-Star break, Minor has a 2.70 ERA (but a 4.08 FIP) and has struck out 42 batters in 46 2/3 innings.
While fantasy owners may be skeptical about his ERA considering his FIP, he has walked no more than two batters in seven of his eight starts and has stranded 87% of batters. Yes, it is tough to maintain a .197 BABIP with a 35.5% GB rate, but we are at the point of the season where we have to believe that Minor will continue to thrive.
There are not many better pitching matchups than the Padres in San Diego and that is the exact matchup that Minor has on Sunday. As for the upcoming week, a start at home against the Mariners is not the best, but, with the way he has been pitching, it may be good to add Minor in deeper leagues.
