BALLER MOVE: Target Around ~108 Overall
CURRENT ADP: ~126
ANALYSIS: 2018 pick Mike Gesicki improved during his sophomore season in 2019. The Penn State product was second on the team in receptions, targets, yards, and touchdowns, all behind DeVante Parker. No joke, considering the level Parker showcased once for all.
He played 16 games in 2019, accumulating 51 receptions, 89 targets (14.5% target share), 570 yards, 11.2 yards per catch, and five touchdowns. Gesicki improved in all those categories from his first to his second year, something to expect from players at his position. He finished 11th last year among fantasy tight ends after finishing 61st in 2018. Among NFL tight ends last season, the 24-year-old finished 14th in receiving yards per game (35.6), 12th in targets per game (5.6), receptions, and reception yards, and 10th in reception touchdowns.
He scored 68.8 PPR fantasy points in his last five games. It’s quite possible we are seeing him develop right in front of our eyes. He is currently holding a 126 ADP and is getting off the boards as the TE15. Gesicki should be considered a value due to his elite level athleticism and his ownership of his team’s passing volume. He’s a breakout candidate who is falling into the double-digit rounds of fantasy drafts. There’s a very good chance he finishes the season as one of the top tight ends in the league--PFF has Gesicki projected to 138 PPR points good to finish 2020 as the TE12.
If you are looking for a late-round tight end with a lot of upside, then Gesicki is your guy.
