While age is a critical factor in determining a player’s fantasy football outlook for the upcoming season, it isn’t the most important. Fantasy players have seen older wide receivers put up massive numbers despite being in the latter part of their careers.
Last year, Mike Evans, Davante Adams, and Amari Cooper were outstanding fantasy football wide receivers despite being older players. Furthermore, they put up top-20 numbers despite playing without an elite quarterback.
However, which of the three veterans should fantasy players draft in 2024? Let’s take a look.

Mike Evans 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook
While many expected Evans to struggle with Baker Mayfield under center, the veteran had one of the best seasons of his career. He was the WR5, averaging 14.3 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. Furthermore, the star receiver tied Tyreek Hill for the league lead in receiving touchdowns (13) despite having 40 fewer receptions. Despite some thinking Evans would leave the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this offseason, the veteran returned alongside Mayfield.

Davante Adams 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook
There is a video spreading on social media of Adams frustrated catching passes from Jimmy Garoppolo last season. Yet, the superstar receiver managed to catch eight touchdowns in 2023. While Aaron Rodgers has hinted about Adams getting traded to the New York Jets, that is unlikely to happen this year. Instead, the veteran will likely have Gardner Minshew II as his quarterback in 2024. The veteran quarterback has a habit of aggressively targeting his No. 1 wide receiver.

Amari Cooper 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook
The Cleveland Browns started five quarterbacks last season. Yet, Cooper was the WR18, averaging more half-point PPR fantasy points per game (12.7) than Jaylen Waddle. Furthermore, he averaged 15.1 fantasy points per game in the 12 contests he played that Thompson-Robinson didn’t start, which would have made him the WR6 on a points-per-game basis. After totaling only five receiving touchdowns in 2023, don’t be surprised if Cooper doubles that total this year.

Who Should I Draft?
Fantasy players should be excited to draft any of these veteran wide receivers this season. Evans is the safest of the bunch after putting up top-five numbers with Mayfield in 2023. However, Cooper is my favorite target of the trio. He has the latest ADP of the three. Yet, Cooper has as much upside as Evans or Adams in 2024, especially if Deshaun Watson stays healthy.
