BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 37% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: You know what happened. And if you don't, then you definitely don't understand why 1) we're talking about Mike Boone and 2) why Mike Boone has a rostership as high as 37% ahead of Week 6 matchups. What happened, of course, was Javonte Williams getting injured and done for the season. Enter Melvin Gordon III and Mike Boone, the Broncos' new RB1 and RB2. Or are they?
Gordon (41) out-snapped Boone (30) last TNF but that doesn't mean he clearly outperformed his understudy: Gordon put up 13.3 PPR points to Boone's 11.5 tally. The key: Gordon did so averaging 0.71 PPR/opportunity compared to Boone's über-efficient 1.15 such figure. You tell me who deserves (and will get) more snaps--and touches, going forward.
Boone is coming off a 3-of-3 on receptions for 47 yards on those plays and he was also good to add 38 rushing yards on a low-volume seven carries against Indianapolis. Gordon's highlight was, probably, not fumbling the ball.
Gordon, splitting time with Williams in Denver's RBBC only topped 7.2 PPR points in Week 3 although he fumbled the rock twice. He had already fumbled it once in W1 and he did it again in Week 4 for a net-negative -1.2 PPR points. Sheesh.
I'm not saying Boone has been better than Gordon. I'm just saying that there is a chance Boone ends the year above Gordon given his usage (from a snap share of 19% in W3 to 36% and lastly 41% this past week) and much more efficient production. Gordon will grab more headlines and command higher prices/rostership. Boone is your under-the-radar weapon with upside.
