ANALYSIS: Two injuries have left the Chargers precariously thin at the wide receiver position. With Keenan Allen already on IR and Malcom Floyd’s season in doubt after a shoulder injury, relatively unknown Dontrelle Inman is thrust into a starting role. This is definitely an opportunity to become fantasy relevant.
In Week 4 when both Stevie Johnson and Floyd left with injuries, Inman got his first crack at real playing time and had a nice 88 yards, mostly on one 68 yard catch. Last week vs Chicago Inman ended up playing on all but one snap with less exciting results. He managed just 3 catches for 28 yards and a fumble. Luckily for Inman they have no choice but to turn to him again.
He’s definitely a long shot to actually become a fantasy starter but in this high volume offense he is definitely worth a speculative add. In shallower leagues with the Chargers on bye this week you can pass over Inman for options that might give a more immediate return on value. Looking ahead, San Diego’s fantasy schedule is pretty good outside of Week 13 matchup with Denver.
