Baltimore Ravens tight end Crockett Gilmore is expected to miss the week 4 Thursday Night Football matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers with a calf injury. That means it's time for rookie Maxx Williams to step up and shine.
"With Crockett being out, we expect [our young tight ends] to step up and play well for us," Ravens offensive coordinator Marc Trestman said.
Considering Joe Flacco has a very limited number of weapons in the passing game, Williams will have every chance to shine against the Steelers. Other than Steve Smith Sr., Flacco really has nobody of note to throw the football to. The team selected Williams with the No. 55 pick in the 2015 draft mostly due to his exceptional receiving skills.
If you're desperate for a tight end Williams can be slotted into your starting lineups, especially in PPR leagues. But don't get too crazy - if you have a safer option, keep Williams on the bench until he proves himself.
