Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford had a great start to his career with the organization, posting 4,886 yards and 41 passing touchdowns en route to a Super Bowl title in 2021. Last season, he played in just nine games and struggled mightily. In 2023, he's delivered mixed results and finds himself back in the injury headlines.
Although he is far from a fantasy superstar, there are fantasy managers in two-QB and superflex leagues awaiting his return. We have the latest upside on his status.
When is Stafford coming back to action? What is his fantasy football outlook when he returns? Let's dive in.

Matthew Stafford Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Rams head coach Sean McVay sounded optimistic about quarterback Matthew Stafford (thumb) returning after their Week 10 bye, although nothing is definitive yet. McVay responded to a question from the media about backup Brett Rypien with an indication that it's not something the Rams will be forced to weigh because of "the direction they are headed."
Stafford returning in Week 11 will depend on his grip strength and functionality. The 35-year-old veteran is trying to recover from a UCL sprain in his right thumb that he suffered in Week 8. The Rams recently signed veteran Carson Wentz to add depth to its quarterback room.
Matthew Stafford Fantasy Football Outlook
Stafford has not posted a QB1 week this season, but he does have two finishes as the QB14 and QB15, respectively. This keeps him on the fantasy radar in single-QB formats and makes him a must-start in two-QB or superflex leagues.
Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua give him enough ammo to deliver solid fantasy performances, so his status should continue to be monitored as at least a bye-week fill-in down the stretch. Hopefully, the veteran can return in Week 11 against the Seattle Seahawks. If not, Rypien or Wentz will start in the NFC West clash.
