Matt Ryan (QB, IND) - Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 7

ANALYSIS: Find me a more exciting quarterback than Matt Ryan, I challenge you! Alright, alright, that's not hard, but looking at Ryan's Week 6 stat line you'd think otherwise, wouldn't you? Ryan is coming off a matchup in which he put up the second-most FP among players at the QB position and although there have been multiple ups and downs through the year the truth is that the über-veteran is a high-end QB2 on the season.

Ryan has just completed one of the wildest days of the year for a quarterback: 58 pass attempts (tied for second-most in a single game in 2022), 42 completions (tied for most), 389 yards (third-most), and three touchdowns against no interceptions (there's only been ten such 3-0 performances this season). How do you like that?

The Colts have a top-16 pass catcher in Michael Pittman Jr. helping Matt Ryan rack up numbers but not much more than that. Alec Pierce is the next-best weapon at least judging by the fantasy numbers but he's only the top-63 WR/TE in total PPR points through Week 6. Other than that, Jonathan Taylor is a clear machine but happens to make most of his damage (when not injured...) on the ground and rushing the rock.

The fumbles have sucked (2+ in five of his prior six games) although Ryan fixed that this Sunday with no turnovers at all.

It's going to be absolutely impossible to see Ryan throwing 58 passes again ROS even with his madman tendencies. The completions should have a floor of 25+ weekly and the yardage should not drop from some 275+ yards, though. Ryan is a good target for those in deeper leagues navigating the Bye weeks and a must-roster/must-start for GMs in 2QB/Superflex formats.
