Alfred Morris owners won't be happy to hear this, but Washington Redskins coach Jay Gruden will continue to give Matt Jones the bulk of the carries at running back. This is despite the fact that Jones has already lost two fumbles in just three NFL games.
“We’re not going to shy away from giving him the ball,” Gruden said, according to ESPN. “When he does get the ball, he’s a force to be reckoned with, but he’s got to protect the ball.”
Jones has been much more effective out of the backfield than Morris this season. Even though Morris owners likely used a high draft pick on him, it's time to put him on your bench if you have a better alternative. Running backs like Giovani Bernard, Devonta Freeman and LeGarrette Blount are all safer alternatives than Morris at this point in time. Bernard and Freeman are guaranteed to see playing time on passing downs while Blount will see plenty of goal-line action.
And if you're lucky enough to own Jones, he's a must-start in all fantasy football leagues.
