BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 47% of Fleaflicker Leagues
ANALYSIS: The Redskins backfield is becoming very troublesome for owners, but Matt Jones did get a touchdown this past week. Unfortunately it came with less than two yards per carry (11 carries for 20 yards) and Jones did not come out of the game unscathed. Jones is reportedly dealing with a sprained big toe, with the severity of the injury yet to be determined. It seems we may have seen Jones' 2015 peak already in the Rams game before Chris Thompson really came along.
That said, it was telling that Matt Jones got the ball for the goal line plays after he had some fumble woes in past games, and this time he converted. If you have a deep bench Jones is still a good stash, because if Alfred Morris goes down he is the only heavy lifter yet. React accordingly to the news that breaks about Jones’ toe, but for now you might be able to snag him without much concern for your waiver priority thanks to the overall struggles of the rushing game for Washington. It doesn’t get any easier, as the Redskins head to East Rutherford to face the Jets and their great defensive front. A Week 7 matchup with Tampa Bay should be nice for the rushing attack, and then the Redskins go on a bye for Week 8. Don’t expect much out of Matt Jones in the coming weeks, but he was given the opportunities in this backfield for a reason, and he has flashed that potential at the professional level in that game against the Rams. Add him in deeper leagues if he’s been dropped.
