Washington Redskins rookie running back Matt Jones is practicing again after missing Week 6's game against the New York Jets with a toe injury. This likely means he will resume splitting carries pretty evenly with Alfred Morris.
So far this season Alfred Morris has 85 carries for 297 yards, Meanwhile, Jones has had 54 carries for 220 yards and three touchdowns.
Jones has been far more effective with his carries thus far this season than Morris. I view Jones and Morris both as low-end RB3s against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs don't have a very good defense so that should benefit both backs. However, it is very hard trying to figure out which back will get the majority of carries.
In other Redskins news, wide receiver DeSean Jackson is expected to miss Week 7. The speedy receiver hasn't played since Week 1 when he injured his hamstring. He was not seen at practice on Thursday.
The team is reportedly upset with Jackson and will consider releasing him following the season. When he's healthy, he's one of the best playmakers at his position. Unfortunately, he can never seem to stay healthy and he has been considered a locker room cancer in the past.
Hold on to Jackson in dynasty leagues and keeper leagues. I'm hesitant to recommend dropping him in redraft leagues too, but if you need a roster spot I couldn't blame you for dropping him. He'll be a risky play even if/when he does return.
As mentioned previously, I do like the Redskins’ Week 7 matchup. I see QB Kirk Cousins as a viable fantasy football option this week as well as wide receiver Pierre Garcon and tight end Jordan Reed, who is expected to return after missing time with a concussion.
I also recommend starting the Redskins defense. They’ll be going up against Jameis Winston who has struggled thus far this season. I would not be a bit surprised if he threw several interceptions on Sunday. Heck, he may even through a pick-six.
Receiver Jamison Crowder can be considered a WR3 against the Bucs with Jackson out. He has been a pleasant fantasy football surprise thus far this season. He has 244 yards on 27 receptions. He has been one of Cousins favorite targets. It will be interesting to see how his role changes if/when Jackson is able to return.
I’m usually not a fan of starting any Redskins players, but obviously this week is an exception with their great matchup.
