BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 7% of Yahoo Leagues
ANALYSIS: Matt Davidson may put together one of the quietest, most unlikely 30-home run seasons in the majors. He's already up to 11 HR, 26 RBI in 143 at-bats. Davidson consistently put up 20+ homer seasons in the minors, so there's no real surprise that he brought a power bat with him to the majors. He also brought some unruly plate discipline, striking out 37.6% of the time with a 16.3% SwStr%. Davidson will keep swinging for the fences, but he's done so effectively so far. Thankfully, his average hasn't suffered much as a result. He's batting a respectable .259 on the season, compared to someone like Ryan Schimpf, who is hitting just .161 with similar power numbers. Yet, Schimpf is owned in 22% of leagues, whereas Davidson is at a paltry 7% ownership.
He isn't the type of player you want to rely on as your starting third baseman, but if your league runs deep enough to utilize a Corner Infield position, he could be useful. Davidson hasn't put together any multi-HR games, nor has he gone on any huge hitting streaks. This may prove that he will keep up this pace of production that could be pleasantly surprising by the time the 2017 season is wrapped up.
