BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 6% Yahoo
ANALYSIS: As a small-market West Coast team in last place, the Athletics understandably don't get a lot of attention from baseball fans as a whole. They also don't have much in the way of appealing fantasy assets, particularly after selling off Sonny Gray and Yonder Alonso in the last few weeks. Perhaps it's unsurprising, then, that Matt Chapman is flying under the radar. Despite boasting a .958 OPS and nine home runs since the All-Star break, the rookie third baseman continues to languish on the waiver wire in virtually all leagues.
While certainly not without flaws - he's struck out multiple times in seven of his last nine games, for instance - Chapman's power is legitimate. He smacked 36 homers across two levels of the minors in 2016, and had 16 in 49 games at Triple-A before being promoted to the majors this year. His excellent defense and lack of competition will keep him in the lineup for the remainder of the season - and as long as he keeps hitting this way, he's got plenty of fantasy value.
