ANALYSIS: Mat Latos is showing all the signs of a player set to have a great second half. After returning from an injury plagued 2014 in Cincinnati, Latos got off to a rough start with the Marlins by producing a 6.86 ERA and 1.76 WHIP in March/April. Since the first month of the season, Latos has steadily improved his performance month after month. In May Latos had a 5.40 ERA and 1.43 WHIP, In June Latos had a 3.86 ERA and 1.091 WHIP, and in July Latos has a 1.29 ERA and a 0.429 WHIP. Latos has also been much better suited outside of Miami, as he has a home ERA of 6.92 and an away ERA of 2.57. As if that isn't enough, Latos has been pitching better than his total ERA indicates, as his 4.90 ERA is accompanied by a 3.50 FIP and an increased strikeout percentage with 8 K/9. Latos is trending in the very right direction, and fantasy baseball managers should rush to take advantage of his good isolated performance and increased strikeout volume. If the trade rumors regarding a possible move for Latos are true, Latos could also see his home ERA decrease, as the numbers indicate he isn't very comfortable pitching in Miami.
