The NASCAR Cup Series ran the Cook Out 400 this past Sunday afternoon at Martinsville Speedway with William Byron emerging victorious despite starting back in 18th at a track where position on the racetrack meant everything.
Chase Elliott, who finished third, had the best Average Running Position (3.15) during the race with pole sitter, Kyle Larson, ranking second-best.
Of the top five finishers in this weekend's race, Ryan Blaney had the worst Average Running Position (12.21), ranking ninth-best in that statistic but finishing fifth. It is noteworthy that Denny Hamlin had the fourth-best Average Running Position in the race but pitted late for tires and lost track position on the final restart, finishing 11th at the checkered flag.
